What’s In A Name?

“Back in high school”. . . I had typewriters! All you young pups don’t know what you missed! <semi P; semi P> I can hear it just like it was yesterday! No games to play, no usernames to create, no passwords or commands to remember. Heck, I’m almost old enough to remember not having to turn the dang thing on! No electricity needed. And speaking of remember, I can’t. I just can’t anymore.

All my computer experience was for work only (beginning in the early 80’s). No games, just floppy disks; a bunch of them, in their very own little organizer, complete with attached, acrylic cover. Oh yeah, good times, none of which I remember. CRS is a real thing, people, which I blame on the rest of my life...birthing babies and raising them - no computer needed, just a lap and loving arms. (I wouldn’t change a thing. ;))

Nowadays, I do have a laptop that I rarely even turn on anymore and mostly only for my embroidery machines to access the embroidery files. My iPad is great for playing solitaire and my iPhone is great for taking pictures of all my feathered friends. Thank goodness accessing my birds doesn’t require dial-up.😬
Just ask somebody young what the "cc" in »put me on cc in your mail« actually means…
But don't burst out in laughter or they will call you "boomer"!

Agree, but back in the day it was very much "Bow before me, for I am root." Even back then though, if you gave me physical access to a machine, it was MY machine. No matter how you harden it to keep remote attackers out, the guy standing at the console is always the biggest threat.
I would have been no threat at all. :lau:lau

Okay, you’ve got me a bit scared. I probably don’t want to know. They did away with the original meaning when there was no such thing as a Carbon Copy anymore, to an updated “courtesy copy” I believe. I think there was another one as well.

I still get rage-y over reply-all. I'm not going to even attempt to explain a CC or BCC to anyone. :p
