What age is a chicken considered to be pretty much fully grown?

Just was one that doesn't have great feathered leggs and is in it's juvi molt..but will still never have the look that I wanted for a maran

1/100 they say can end up without the feathered leggs..and yet, if I were to breed it to a cock that has heavy feathered leggs then their babies will have the heavy feathered leggs..problem, iam not breeding and just want a perfect backyard flock.lol

Hence this particular maran is not my cup of tea..but all that being said..if it lays me some nice dark eggs and large I will so change my mind..lol

Did the breeder ever mention which variety of Marans your girl is? I know I got in touch with a breeder near me about my Mr. Vic. Best we know he is at least mixed with black tail buff, maybe full, but not show quality. I was under the impression that the hens would look more like RIR hens with a medium brown color, but bigger and a different shape.

From my limited experience, there is a French Marans and an English Marans. Most breeders here are trying to keep to the French Marans standard with the feathered legs. Not all of us are so picky about the standards, but I do respect what they are trying to do. I would like to find someone with some black tail buffs to mate with Vic, especially since they will match better with my RIR ladies I have now. Add some broodiness and better meat qualities to my flock..
