What are some pain relievers for ducks that don’t require a prescription?

Yes, this is the worst leg. The other one is just as dark, but I can still move it a bit. The foot pictured above is rock hard.

It's a bit swollen right above where his leg turns purple. Perhaps it's the body's natural way of healing? Otherwise it looks fine. He's still very active.

I'm not sure how many have had to deal with frost bite on here, I am dealing with it on some of my Muscovy's fleshy knobs but nothing to this extent. Is he able to use this leg in getting around? what all have you been doing? oh and my Naked Neck Rooster he had a bad case of frost bite on his wattles they swelled up with fluid but are almost healed now, I have been using Veterycin on all of them so I didn't have to rub the skin.
Sounds like this lil fellow has a strong will to over come this. Thank you for sharing.

Nearly all of my roosters have frostbitten combs and wattles, but they're fine. This winter has been really rough.

I haven't been doing anything since his legs dried up. I've been taking a more 'hands off' approach. He is in a 6 ft. by 6 ft. pen in the garage with his girlfriend and he seems much happier.

He gets around mainly by wiggling, but he also uses he legs and wings to propel himself when he's in a hurry.

He's amazing, what are you using for bedding?

I'm using some soft hay. I can't remember what type of grass it is...

I've also been putting horse bedding pellets next to their water dish to absorb anything that spills.
Thank you for sharing this with us, I'm sure hoping when this is over for him, he can be as normal as possible.. I'm sure he has a long way to go still though. please keep updating.
Only thing I'd worry about with hay is him not being able to get traction which might bother his leg more, but your right there and can sure see things alot better than me. I'm just a worry wort.
