Well, I've been busy since my last post early this morning while having coffee.

I've cleaned up all the canning projects I started in the past couple days with...
- 9 jars Wild Plum Jelly
- 5 jars Peach Jelly
- 8 jars Peach Jam
- 6 pints Claussen Style Dill Pickles (will test market these at the farmers market this weekend)

And ran/emptied the dishwasher, let the chickens out for the day, tossed together fruit and veggie scraps for the pigs, etc.

Now off to a busy morning in the garden. DH & I plan to dig potatoes, pick the squash, zucchini, wax beans, royal burgundy beans, and cuc's, then weed a bit. We're trying to get things ready to reseed for Fall crops this weekend.

Have a great day, Everyone!

Where do you get the energy??? I have a four month old and I feel like I get nothing accomplished in a day and need to can pickles in the next day or two.

Wow Kim_NC ! I put up 9 jars of blackberry jam Sunday and felt proud... then I read your post and I think I'm slacking. LOL! We must have very different growing seasons, all I have ready to can (or eat for that matter) now is hot peppers and some berries. Peas and beans are getting there though, and the A/C guy told me just yesterday that I had the biggest and healthiest tomato plants he'd seen all season (apparently he was a bit of a gardener himself).

Things grow ssslllooowww up here in Colorado.

Hey Dragonfly, would you mind sharing the raspberry chipolte recipe? I am picking wild blackberries (hopefully) this afternoon and want to add it to my list of things to can!

Haven't canned anything, my garden is being lame. We've gotten crazy storms here, and when its not raining its dreadfully hot. I know if my maters could talk they'd be screaming at me! I went to steins tho and they had 50% off their plants so I picked up 3 bush pickle plants, 4 more mater plants (2 cherokee purps, 1 black prince, 1 Black Krim), 3 plants of red onions, 6 plants of leeks, 3 plants of yellow onions all for 13 bucks!

I am gonna check out walmart/home depot later to see if I can snag more deals.

No problem will post it for you tomorrow don't have my book at work.

Last night I canned 18 1/2 pints of Boysenberry jelly and 6 1/2 pints of Mulberry/Blackberry blend. The recipe I have calls for 5 cups of juice so used 2 cups Boysen and 3 cups Mulberry - made 6 1/4 pints of it for taste test. We were sorry that it wasn't ready for our French Toast that we had for dinner last night but was still too hot.

Hey, next time any of you make French Toast make it Buttermilk in the batter. I was out of milk one night and only had Buttermilk so gave it a go and Man-O-Man it was delicious! Really nice light tang and then sweetened with the syrup - we had fresh Boysenberries and Strawberries too. It is now my new recipe and after 4 times we are sold and will never have it any other way - that is unless I run out of Buttermilk and only have milk

Weellllll, I don't have any children/grandchildren, am 51 yrs old and live away from my family. And we have a routine and work about 14 hrs/day. LOL.... at least farming is what we want to do and it doesn't all feel like work.

I'm sure you're doing plenty with a 4 mo old to take care of. Hang in there.

Awwwhhh, that's so sweet of you to say. We didn't get the beans picked this morning. So, we're off to do that now. We dug only one row of the potatoes and got two 5 gallon buckets of red pontiac potatoes. Some of them are nearly twice the size of my fist! We still have 5 rows out there - white kennebecs, fingerlings, yukon golds. LOL.....for digging another day. (Do we have a 'sheesh-I'm-tired-thinking-about-it smilie???)

Thanks Everyone....OK...off to the slave pit....eerrr, I mean garden.

I did recan that watermelon jelly. Worked like a charm this time... who knows why?! I also went all over the place looking for canning jars in 8oz... no one had them! Finally found 1 box left at TSC, and they had a box of 12 oz? So I picked those up too.

So today I did 7 8oz jars and 1 12 oz jar of the watermelon again,
3 8 oz jars of blackberry
2 12 oz jars of blackberry
1 16 oz jar of blackberry
2 8 oz jars of sweet basil (REALLY GOOD WITH STRAWBERRIES AND WHIPPED CREAM!!! OMG!!! REALLY!!!)

I have everything ready to go for a batch of mixed berry here soon, since I have a couple couples of strawberries coming in, some blackberry left and a handful of raspberries from the neighbor
