What are you canning now?

How did you go about this? Just can it like you would any other juice? My grandma has a large grapefruit tree that is LOADED with fruit every year. It goes to waste because she cannot eat it due to certain meds she takes, and no one else likes them. I used to hate them but have recently taken a liking to them and would love to be able to can something using them. Thanks!

I have no officially be indoctrinated into the world of canning. I broke a jar in the hot water bath

oh well. Figures it was blueberry which I had very little of. I made 7 blueberry and 8 caramel apple so far this morning. I have to get my garlic in too! I should be doing that, but it's supposed to be 56 here on Tueday (unheard of in November in my neck of the woods) so I'll do it then.

Sure, chickee- just wipe the other jars off. I have started checking my jars, very carefully. When holding them up to the light, I found a couple with hairline cracks in them. They certainly would have broken. Are you making sure your jars are hot, when you pack them?

I've had a couple of older jars break on me as well this year, well maybe more than a couple and they've all been quart jars. Make sure you are checking them before using!
Even so, you could still get one that pops on ya

If I'm having to load slowly for whatever reason I put the filled jars on the stove top right next to the warming/hot canner to help keep them warm enough not to crack from temp change when I do get them in the canner.

I need some help deciding what to do. I have about 10-12 cups of apple juice left. I have made one batch of candy apple jelly and will make 1 more to gift as christmas presents but what else can I make with apple juice? I also have muscadine grapes in the freezer I need to do something with. Any ideas?

Thanks guys! I usually put my jars in boiling water and take them out as needed. I thought I'd try the dishwasher method this time and this happened. I put it in and heard a pop a minute later. Not sure if that was the cause or not. Oh, well the others are fine. Have to get some apples ready for canning -- kind of dreading it.
