So my neighbor gave me some apples. They're all spotted but the insides are good, nice and firm and tart. I peeled some and did them up for jelly. However not having time, I put the 48+ oz. in the freezer. That should be okay right? I have more to do and don't have time right now to finish the jelly.
I do have some Cranberry juice in the freezer too from last year.
Rancher, I WAS well on my way to the DIabetes II and decided I really needed to stop that ball rolling any further. I gave up crackers, along with the sugar. ANd the diet soda doesn't make me want another. That is an indiviual reaction. I do know folks that can't lose weight using diet sugars and others that can. I read EVERY label if it has one. I also have removed EVERYTHING with added sugar. Takes a little effort to find substitues. I cook from scratch and my kids cook too. To each their own. I'm sure the specialty jam tates wonderful and nothing like Smuckers could ever make. We made a wonderful plum sauce this summer using splenda as the sweetener and a touch of white sugar. Kids loved it. Will have to suggest trying jam on a stalk of celery!!It seems to me that we forget that there is Corn Syrup aka "sugar" in just about everything we eat. Take a look in your cupboard and read the labels, you'll see what I mean. My point being we are on sugar overload and don't think for one minute that diet soda will save you.
The chemical in diet soda , actually INCREASES your hankering for sweet stuff.
By cooking and preparing your own food stuff you can reduce the amount of sugar in your diet and have that small amount of specialty jam. Jam will taste just as good on a stalk of celery as peanut butter. I suspect the crackers we buy will do far more harm than the jams we make too.
I wish you all well,
Rancher
Quote: looks yummy-- my mothers recipe adds cocoa powder!! my kids love it.
your welcomeThank you. I'll enlarge and copy.
My comment was generic and not directed at anyone in particular, so I hope you didn't take it personally. As for the diet soda, comment that was not my op but according to a study. I did not state it made a person want more diet soda but sweets.Rancher, I WAS well on my way to the DIabetes II and decided I really needed to stop that ball rolling any further.
