What are you canning now?

If I had it, you could have it. We don't make bologna out of our deer, though I've heard of folks doing that. We love the taste of the meat too much to change it that way, though we do use the stringier parts for jerky each year.

First day of archery season, so 3 bucks harvested here today and another son still out hunting, so it could be 4 by the day's end.  What will I be canning?  DEER  MEAT!   :weee

Congrats on the meat, never canned deer meat, we always freeze of make jerky. :celebrate
We got 2 does last year, one was a wolf(oops, what kind of dear go INTO hunting camp at night???). Dad shot both of them, a person from next to our camp went down to see how big the wolf was, since we wouldnt have shot it except for their 4 dogs running around during the day. He came up laughing about our wolf and how it changed to a doe, so we slapped another tag on it. Going up for my second time hunting this year, hope I get to do more the dress the deer and package this year.

That only works in spring and summer when you have a garden and don't want them. Only problem is it's not shooting season.
I have been tempted to beat one or two to death with my shovel after they ate an entire bed of something. Lol

The mental image of the shovel beating made me smile. Been there plenty of times!

I heard you can shoot them out of season if they are threatening your livelyhood...I say eating my garden counts. Thats why some of the farmers get year round hunting on their property, that and there acreage is so large you cant see end to end. But they also have white tail, mule deer and elk on their property, I would hunt year round if I had dinner walking across my hay field.

Nah. I'd have to take a shovel to em.

I am in the middle of houses and yards. And worst if all, people who feed the deer, rabbits, chipmunks and everything else that eats my garden.
