What are you reading? (or books you highly recommend)

Anyone here read Kurt Vonnegut? my brother used to make me read his stuff, i have to say though that Breakfast of Champions was pretty funny!

Kurt Vonnegut was all the rage in my youth! I don't know how I never ended up reading any of his books... I think back then I was too busy being a naughty teenager to take the time to read anything. Thanks for reminding me of him!

Never heard of him Rex Stout.

I've read almost every book written by these peeps:

Steven King
John Grisham
Patricia Cornwell
Jeffrey Deaver

I've read lots of books by Dean Koontz, but not all. I read a lot of the Oprah Book Club books back in the day. I've read some extremely amusing memoir type stuff written by Mary Karr.

I don't pay any attention to authors. I just pull off and check the blurb on any book that looks interesting or is more than 2 inches thick.

Wow! You all jumped right in while I was busy at work! I already have three books lined up for the summer and now you guys are adding to my list!
I have read a lot of Steven king too deb. Have you ever read the girl who loved Tom Gordon? It's one of his ones he wrote as Bachman. I don't know if I spelled that right but you know what I mean if you know Steven king. It's a little different than just horror it's about a young girl who gets lost in the woods. The latest king book I read was bag of bones. It was really good and kept you guessing. It begins and ends sad though. In it this guys wife dies suddenly and the rest is kinda about him trying to deal with her death and he goes to stay at their vacation home and he keeps thinking she is haunting him or trying to communicate with him somehow. I won't spoil it but it was good. The movie did not do it justice.

I have been wanting to read grapes of wrath very soon so make that four books lined up for the summer for sure. I got to go watch a live production of it a while back and it was very moving. Not a dry eye in the house!

I read this last summer and i could not put it down. My family was sick of hearing me talk about it too. It is shocking and real and really is beyond belief. Hope I don't offend any ones religion here but anyone who is curious what Scientology is all about should read this. Totally insane what the children are put through that grow up in that life.

I didn't care for the Tom Gordon book, but enjoyed Bag of Bones. The movies are never as good as the books. They have to leave out too much of the good stuff in a movie.
