Really?! I was looking at them and all of them are all black? BUT I guess these are just temporary feathers and they will eventually get all black?BLACK AUSTRALORP!

I put one paper towel under each.. They love to scratch shavings into their water, not so much the food. Paper plates sound better though!IN ABOUT 6 DAYS YOUR GONNA WANT A PAPER PLATE AND PAPER TOWELS UNDER THAT WATERER TO KEEP IT CLEANER LONGER..then push it to the back of the plate.. IM LEARNING THIS.. LOL AS MINE ARE NOW 6 DAYS OLD... and i think id rather have sand over the pine shavings... they are kicking it into the waterer and feeder constantly.. when i put sand in there it seems to be less messy.. at 6-10 days old they will start scratching like krazy!
See I have some barred rock I believe and I KNEW this chick was totally different compared to them, cause they are all very black, and have the white spot right on top of their heads. And this one "looks" different like how its carries itself.Quote:

here is a bunch of black australorp chicks... my barred rock is more black than my black australorp chick its krazy! it had me really confused!

It is one of my mystery chicks! I have a few others. But they can be EE, Wellsummers, ect. I really wont know until they completely feather out cause they all look SO much alike. They look like chipmunks. lol Time will tell!
