We found it in the middle of the road last summer (2022) and brought it home to care for it. We're not sure on the breed or the sex -- it has never displayed any rooster tendencies to our other hens but also has never laid eggs. Our Wyandotte started laying a couple of weeks ago and this mystery chicken now "pretends" to nest with her (or so it seems). Doesn't act broody, but goes into the nesting box for hours at a time, usually with the Wyandotte.
Any clues? Is pretending to nest a thing? Are they just in love?
