Thanks so much for voting! It is really helping me to choose my breed.

What breed have you chosen (I'm very slow!) lol

Alexa, These breeds are not on your survey, but for nice temperament, good flock members, personable birds, visual appeal, I would choose first: Dominique, and second: EE. I never met a RIR that was not a mean old biddy, and any RIR roo I've ever met has been a nasty soul, always the first to be invited to a crock pot dinner.

I have red star and they are sweet hens that lay large brown eggs. They are aggressive eaters. They just seem very hungry all the time. Had some problems with feather plucking and upped their feed to 18% protein. They do free range. But the higher protein seemed to help them in many ways. They are delightful.

I loved my two sex-linked... they were so friendly to humans. One was top of the pecking order, so would make sure the other hens stayed in line, but wasn't overly aggressive about it. Neither lived past age 2, though, so I don't think I'll get them again. I have never had any of your other breeds, but I did end up with a RIR rooster this year, who is the NICEST boy! I know they tend to be really mean, but he is a gem! Very sweet to the ladies and docile with me. He's staying for now, although I'm waiting for a neighbor to complain. :-( Good luck with your choices! You really can't go wrong!
