What a sweet jap roo...love the set up and chicken related family pics too
I'm a fan of the Aracauna. My son got a one for me over 10 years ago, and she is still laying eggs regularly! I can't believe it. Not only that, she lays green eggs, and they are beautiful. (Often the eggs are blue, too.) And to top it off, they are available at my local feed store! It's spring and my search history is full of hatcheries, but my space is limited. There are sooo many breeds I wish I had that I either can't find, can't afford or both
What are some breeds you wish you had or wish were easier to find??
Cyprus
I think you have an Easter Egger, not a true AraucanaI'm a fan of the Aracauna. My son got a one for me over 10 years ago, and she is still laying eggs regularly! I can't believe it. Beautiful black tailed white Japanese!
Very pretty! Japanese bantam?
I guess so, he's the mother hen at the tractor supply store where I shop for chicks....ehm chicken feed.Very pretty! Japanese bantam?
I have a soft spot for J Giants. I don't own any, but I covet them. I have a think for black chickens with a stately walk. What about them was unappealing to you?didn't spark joy. RIR, Ameraucanas (well, most of them), Jersey Giants, Faverolles, d'Uccles, Cochins, Australorps, most of my bantam Dominiques.
Most of them had personalities I did not like or maintenance issues.
My best Nankin roo thinks he's a mother hen, too. It's pretty cool to watch!Black Tailed White Japanese Bantam
My mottled Japanese bantam cockerels did the same thingThat breed has very motherly cockerels.
I wish that the nice White showgirl silkies were easier to find, or any good showgirl silkie that I could at least work with. I've been looking for almost 2 years, and they are still beyond my grasp.
