That's sad. But it's always fun to guess.
You could cross him to a yellow legged lady so you could find out if he carries a yellow leg gene, if he were a first gen wyandotte cross he'd have to. Of course if none of the offspring have yellow legs, it doesn't necessarily mean he doesn't carry one, just that he didn't happen to pass them on. But if they do have yellow legs that would be another point for the wyandotte theory.

Need an incubator though, what do you recommend?

My recommendation is the same as most people's; the Nurture Right 360. It's not too pricey compared to a lot of incubators ($150), and it works great, is easy to use, pretty reliable, extremely easy to clean, and also is compatible with most types of eggs- you can 3d print your own turners for other kinds of eggs, or buy them off etsy.

I'm guessing he's part Buff Orpington. Maybe some Wyandotte in him as well, as other(s) have stated.

Okay, so let's assume he is part Wyandotte. Suppose I were to collect some of my EE eggs from him (when they start laying again). Should I anticipate hatching difficulties because of the size of the rooster compared to the hens? Or will nature take care of that?

No issues. The chicks will also be EEs.
