I believe it’s a male. But would be nice to get a better opinion. This bird is around 6 weeks old.

Definitely a cockerel. If his earlobes turn white over the next few months, he’s a Leghorn. If they stay red, he’s a white Plymouth Rock.

Thanks so much. I love him. He is so beautiful.

Just so you know and have a better understanding, this bird along with 6 others, cone from a company here in Adelaide Australia, called Henny Penny Hatchings, a company that is hired by schools, aged facilities etc to come with a portable incubator, 12 fertilised eggs, heat lamp and space for newly hatchlings to go once ready. And once all eggs are hatched, the person who owns this little company (a franchise of the Henny Penny Company), comes and picks up the chicks and they basically get sexed, males get thrown away and females put back into the breeding program to make more eggs. Truly HORRIBLE.

Anyway, I could not stand the thought of this, so I took some home, (these birds were in the aged facility where I work).

The breeds on the website they deal with are as follows: Australorp, New Hampshire Sussex, black and white Leghorn and Lohmanns.

So being that you mentioned Leghorn and there is no Plymouth Rock, hoping that means he is a Leghorn.

Phewww that was long haha

Ps is there such a thing as a Black Leghorn? I used to have a Black Australorp but never heard of a black leghorn.

Seeings as you guys were so helpful with my last post, perhaps you could also help me with what these 2 birds are. Gone from the same group of birds at my work. 5 or 6 weeks old.
