I expect all the black on the edges of the feathers to go away as he grows... but he sure is a beautiful little boy

I have a few very similar birds from my buff X black based. Some almost resemble large Vorerks in colour others have a spangled effect mostly on the breast. The effect seems to be more marked on the males.

Yes, I could try to get pics if I can catch them. (They have a large run & I'm too lazy to be catching chickens at daybreak when I let the birds out!)

I've crossed the same black based hens with reds & other colours & had only black birds with leakage, but with the buffs that was the result. With the pullets there is far less gold.

BTW What's WWD?

they mystery is still afoot with this little guy. the only way he could be blackXbuff is if they mated through the walls.

I really don't know for sure... but is seeming more and more likely.
