Before the realization of the wonder properties of coconut oil people used olive oil but that will get messy and you will need to be careful about aspiration. The miracle of coconut oil is that it becomes solid when cooled and melts back to oil in the chicken's throat/crop.
 
This is likely your hen's fault she's in this pickle. She probably ate too much grass or weeds and all that cellulose was too much for her crop to deal with.

If your chickens are kept in a coop or run all the time and not permitted out to scratch around for grit and gravel necessary for digestion, then this is your fault if you haven't made grit accessible.

They seem to have plenty of small rocks...is that what you consider grit?
