What did you do in the garden today?

Kinda odd I grew tomatillos no rats kinda depends on how people keep their places
JMHO easy to grow did it from seeds but has been quite a while may do it again the Son darn near has the old defunct green house down may be summer to get the new one up .. spent the morning moving money to pay bills

I picked up 2 bags of seed starter soil today! Happened upon it when I was in a store!
Mom is doing better today. When she was awake, she was a lot more aware of what was going on. She even ordered her own lunch and ate something other than liquids or jello! They drew some fluid off of her knee today but we haven't gotten any results back yet. No talk yet about when she will go home.
The high was forecast to be 63. I know it got up to at least 68, but I think we hit 70!!

Today feels almost like summer here- 81 w/ high humidity (feels like 84), I've been watering the lawn for the last 2 weeks. I hope we get a few more wet storms b4 summer hits us hard.

We don't vote yet but bravo to all who made their way to the polls. My mom called me up last eve, worried about who she was going to vote for in the primaries. It was pretty cute because it must have been 10-11pm her time... so it was apparently keeping her up. It made a good fun conversation between grown up daughter and her mom. She was going to come out here for a visit but has canceled because of the corona virus. She did not want to get stranded with a quarantine. A good call for someone about to be 80.

My DH and I made a plan to get out and ride the big dogs this morning. We got our chores done early to get a good start on things, I was really looking forward to it- it was our first ride together in months. We started by warming up our young things in the 2x round pens and by the time we were in the arena DH got a call from his brother. Auntie, who has bad arthritis in her knees had tripped on the Walmart bathroom rug while out with the seniors on shopping day. She was in the ER, bumped and bruised but ok. Must have been pretty scary :( poor thing. This is the 4th time she has fallen or passed out in public in the last 8 years. BIL was there with her, it's an hour away from us, certainly things got cut short but we were still able to get our ride in.
It is a great reminder for me to be more vigilant with the leg strengthening for her and me. Going to bust out my trusty bike for 4am rides and also be a warden to get auntie using her stationary bike. Maybe we can avoid another fall.

K. I had better get. Got the call DH has picked her up and is on his way home with supplies. Such a good hubby. Stay safe and well all and watch out for those darn tripping rugs!!!

Beautiful horses. I'd love to have some one day if we get a larger property.

My etsy seeds arrived today. WOW TINY packages. View attachment 2041250
I put out deer strips in the orchard today. I beat them to the smaller branches this year for a change.

Besides that 5 hours of starching and ironing linens. Bleh.
Still trying to NOT do something stupid to my back, to include sneezing. Good grief, I'm queen of the kleenex box today to boot.
What are deer strips?

My nephew in law's work canceled his business trip as a precautionary measure ( he wasn't even leaving the country!). Hopefully everyone's vigilance will pay off!

Those Big Dogzzzzz probably eat like a horse... :gig:lau
If I had to flip their Purina Chow bill, I would definitely end up in the poorhouse.

I buy the cheapest, smelliest dryer sheets I can find, cut them into 4 strips per sheet and hang 3 or 4 in a tree with clothespins. The stink is strong to us, nauseating to a deer. Lasts MONTHS.

Oh your kids would probably love you forever... but, b4 taking that plunge, get them some riding lessons and if they eat, sleep and do all things horses after that then it will be worth all of the work and expense you will have to go through. lol

Horses are cheap! It's caring for them that's $$$$ and the time involved is intense. People don't realize they need daily attention and work.
