What did you do in the garden today?

It did call for cilantro but I don't have any.
Any suggestions?
I'd add either a little oregano or Mexican oregano (epazote) if you have any. I finally ordered some dry on Amazon and @Birdielee is sending me some roots so I'll be growing my own. :love
I finally found a neat little cabinet to store my canned goods in the basement. It was pretty easy to put together. I was so excited about having a decent cabinet I filled it before attaching the lower doors.
That is awesome and I need to get one for the garage. I know it sounds funny, but I'm tempted to store my canned stuff in the huge baker's rack I have in my bedroom. I just like to look at all those pretty jars full of stuff.
Have to pick some tomatoes. I'm running out of tomatoes inside.
And it seemed (to me anyway) the tomatoes would never end. I'll be picking the last of the cherry tomatoes today when I pull the bushes out of the bed so I can throw the last of the compost on top for the fall crops. I'm still clinging to the hope I'll get more from the potted tomatoes but I'm probably dreaming, they're starting to look pretty sad.

It's a gorgeous outside, we've had lots of rain now and today it's sunny and lovely. I'm going to walk to the store and pick up the mail and make some lunch. This afternoon, gardening!

I know - canned items always look so nice!

@Wee Farmer Sarah - you should remove the door interior panels ( and add glass or plexiglass or even HWC) to show off the pretty items! I know its in your basement, so you might be the only one experiencing the eye candy, but might be worth it.

I don’t spend a lot of time in the basement and I wanted to keep them in the dark anyway. But I was thinking about hanging a sign over it. There is a large wooden bookshelf on the other wall facing the cabinet that is almost the same color. The previous owner left a lot of stuff on it but after I get the Got Junk guys out here I can use the open shelves for storing empty jars. Of course I know enough to keep the doors closed, this was just for the photo.

I just finished making some tomatillo salsa. My hubby and I both agree that it needs something. But we don't know what that something is!
The ingredients were: tomatillos, onions, garlic, oregano, cumin, jalapenos, and lime juice. It did call for cilantro but I don't have any.
Any suggestions?

I got nearly all the raised bed tomatoes pulled and was picking the last of the cherry tomatoes but I was so tired of picking tomatoes I was ready to just toss them good or not into the compost. Silly thing to do so I'll finish tomorrow. I must have picked 10 pounds, but I gave about half to the guy fixing the front porch. I'll freeze most of these and make some more tomato soup I think.

And just because I think it's funny, here is Dotty and her sister Bitey, sharing a nest box:

Dotty loves just sitting on eggs, fake or real ones. I suspect she'll be our first broody.
