What did you do in the garden today?

I would have given away sunchokes! We just dug up. About 50 lbs of them to clear a bed for asparagus crowns. I planted those 2 or 3 years back. We ate some but not very much. They are soft/mushy when cooked. I didn't mind them much, but ultimately didn't think they were much to rave about and like potatoes better. They are tasty and crunchy raw, but we didn't need to keep a bed of them for the occasional desire to eat some - I'll just by some water chestnuts when I wan't to crisp crunch.
Oh wow I have a question . I heard they grow and spread and look like sunflowers ? And what does the patch look like over winter? Do they all die and fall over or you have to cut them down ? Or what ?

We are in for a doozy today..... I feel sorry for Mississippi. They haven't even hardly begun digging out and they are about to get hit again. Wind is picking up here. Hoping it doesn't flip my little outdoor greenhouse.

It's spring time in the south. It's like this every spring and every fall. I grew up with tornados. They don't scare me although I do have a healthy respect for them.

I live on the side of a ridge. Typically that works in my benefit when it comes to dangerous weather because the ridge causes the winds to split so the nasty stuff either goes north or south of me. It's a double edged sword though because that means the rain does too....which is problematic in the middle of July & August when you desperately need it. It doesn't mean we are totally immune. We still get dangerous weather over our house but less likely to take a direct strike.

They have been escalating our tornado risk all day today.
They're letting out of schools early today because in the past kids have been trapped at the schools sometimes overnight.
We live in the red zone at the bottom of Iowa.

Be careful you guys! Where’s your hiding places in case a tornado comes? We don’t have a basement so thankfully we get blizzards instead of tornados (Generally anyway).

Those 2 stupid chickens are still at it. How long are they going to keep squabbling for? Every time one is near the other they go at it though the new low man does usually try to run & avoid the other. I’m not separating them, I’ll put a bullet in one first. (I’m all talk) Never had such a pecking order shake up before.

I've been filling my new raised beds for a couple weeks now.
Those look wonderful! If I were a plant, I'd want to grow there!

On our weather report, the meteorologist said the "high" category (magenta color) hasn't been used by the National Weather Service in about two years. This could be another bad one.

Please, everyone be safe! :fl:fl
