Hurray! We got home at 6 tonight. I'm hoping to post a picture tomorrow.![]()
Ugh! That’s frustrating!!Well crap. When I left for vacation a week ago, my garden was doing great. Came back to all kinds of problems.
1. Zucchini went kaput. Not terribly upset because DH was complaining that we still have gallons of it in the freezer.
2. Yellow squash went through a big growth spurt. This is troublesome because I'm growing it vertically up a 2x2 post so when it suddenly grew a foot, it fell over.Tried tying it up regardless but now all the leaves are upside down. Not sure how this will turn out.
3. Squash bugs have gone to town. This has caused an infestation on my spaghetti squash, pumpkins, watermelon, and cantaloupe. Lots of leaves and vines turned yellow or died.
4. Went ahead and harvested some more sweet corn. My suspicion is confirmed. Because the top of the stalks got tangled in the netting, less than half the cobs actually got fertilized. Lots of cobs with hardly any kernels. Not sure what to do with them? Maybe cut them off the cob?
5. Lots of tomatoes are ripening. Enough to make salsa. I had to throw a bunch away because of worms though.Lots more are still green. Gotta figure out what to do about the worms.
6. Blossom end rot on my peppers.
7. Some kind of rust or blight is attacking my bean plants. Thinking of pulling out the corn stalks and planting more green beans.
8. ALL 4-5 of my cukes are dead. Not sure what killed.
9. I need to do some SERIOUS weeding. It's like everything exploded in mutant growth after I left.
10. Still have to dig up potatoes. Probably onions too... They were looking rather dead and probably only golf ball size. Maybe I should just leave them in the ground and see what happens? Will they rot?
