What did you do in the garden today?

Good morning gardeners. Yesterday was eventful. Got my pellet stove cleaned and found out I was not doing the monthly cleaning properly. The very nice young man who did the work showed me what to do and cleaned the stove inside and out so it looks brand new. I picked the rest of the tomatoes this morning. We may get frost overnight tonight so I thought I should just pick what I can. I got enough green tomatoes to make my own green tomato salsa verde. And I still have cilantro leftover from the spicy salsa I made on Monday. Although, I will need to buy some more 1/2 pint jars for jam. The painted walls in my sunroom look so much better. Even though I'm not finished it is still a much more cheerier look than brown on brown walls. I still have some baby poblanos and jalapenos in the pots in the front yard. I watered them really well and may cover them this evening just in case we do get frost. The temps are going back into the high 70's to low 80's for a few days so they have more time to grow. The pillow cases look really nice @WthrLady. Have a great day everyone and happy canning!

Have you made the salsa verde recipe before, Wee Farmer Sarah? Just wondering how you like it? What color did you paint your sunroom? It always freshens things up nicely when you can get a new coat of paint on the walls!
Last night our dog (Brutus) kept scratching and whining at the little decorative cut-out hole under the desk, so after trying to ignore him for about 1/2 hour, Hubs moved the desk a bit, and Brutus grabbed a mouse that was hiding under there! Apparently it must have decided to move in for the fall/winter. Well, it picked the wrong house, because we have two cats inside (one outside), plus our dog, who is actually quite a mouser. He kept running off with the mouse anytime one of us or the cats came near. Eventually he fell asleep on the floor next to the mouse even after the poor thing had died. He wasn't about to leave the area, and let the cats have it! Lol.

So I have been thinking over next years tomato varieties . Thinking of trying Polish paste and Flamingo for processing . I like pink tomatoes best but need thick skins on processing types so they hold well . I do throw in some Brandywine as available but they are thin skinned and do not keep long . I have a small pink that holds well . Segler and yes named after me . Sandhill preservation sells the seed . My hybrid crosses failed to set . Season is getting late so I will quit trying to make crosses . Just was gone too muck earlier this summer .

What type of peppers did you use in the spicy salsa? I have been using jalapenos, but my salsas are not coming out with any heat.

Afternoon. Not much going on here, collected some more tomatoes.

I hope we dont get any frost here, my dahlias are finally starting to produce.

Garden is slowing. Skipping one and two days between picking to manage 2 gallons of tomatoes.

I am liking the SanMarzano tomatoes for processing. A LOT of meat there.

4 hour round trip for some day tripping. Driving is exhausting when there is nothing to look at between point A and B.

Mustard seeds getting closer to harvest.

Need to see your Mustard get some seeds made quite a haul on my brussle sprouts took two more stalks out filled great part is all I have cut are showing new growth on them will try to winter them over with black plastic
