What did you do in the garden today?

Thanks. These are the same people I suspect were helping themselves to my garden the first year. This year I’ll be putting locks on the garden gate.

It amazes me how bold some people are! Ask if you want something, don't just help yourself! And if you ask and the answer is No, then leave it be!

Good morning gardeners. I'm so enjoying these warmer, more "seasonable" temperatures. The overnight low was a balmy 35F. The average high over the next 7 -10 days is forecasted to be in the low 40s. I'm filling a black garbage bag with the morning clean up from the chicken coop and will be transferring them to a black plastic garbage can to hopefully "cook" them for fertilizer. I'm hoping this will speed up the process and start using the "gifts" from my chickens. Regarding the neighborhood "gleaners" - I guess it could be worse. This is a relatively quiet neighborhood with the bulk of the noise coming from the sounds of children playing, chirping birds and occasional rooster crowing. Despite there being a number of pet dogs, they rarely bark and are confined to their own lots. So it is a bit disconcerting to have these sad poachers helping themselves to the fruits of your labor. There have been times when they grabbed some flowers from my yard. So very sad. I've wanted to sell surplus vegetables at the end of my driveway, but the only way to not be robbed by these folks would be to sit out with the produce. I will likely get surveillance cameras but that just makes it more unsettling to have to guard your food. Back to garden planning. I need to determine what vegetables do better with less sunshine. The spot where I'm extending the herb garden gets around 6 hours of sunlight from the west during the Spring and summer. So something that grows well in containers with less than 8 hours of sun should do well. Most of the snow is gone from my backyard so the chickens are getting out a bit more now. The shot I'm using for my avatar right now was taken when they were so tired of being "cooped" up they ventured out for about 5 minutes. Today it's sunny with highs hitting the mid 40s so they will have some fun later. Have a great day everyone.

Good afternoon gardeners.

It was chilly with a breeze this morning, but the rain is gone. That's a good thing since it didn't rain much yesterday but there are still puddles around; no point in over doing it right?

I went out to the garden at lunch today after I fed the chickens. I picked a bunch of mustard for them. It really shot up over the last few days! The tomato plant still has tomatoes on it, it's so happy I hate to pull it but I think the time has come. We also have peas on both plants, will get out there tomorrow to pick them. I'll be putting old sheets over everything for the next few days, but thanks to the rain I won't need to deep soak the lemon tree.

I'm looking forward to a 3 day weekend next week. Hubs will be home and we plan to trim the mesquite tree in the back. I'm currently reading about topping a tree, this one is still young and might be a good candidate. I hope to get the coop painted and do a thorough cleaning after we process some cockerels.

Time to get a cup of coffee, the wind has picked up outside. Have a great afternoon all!

How are you doing this sunny morning IM pretty good now coops cleaned back settled down being able to sit a few shortbread cookie dough was in fridge all night too solid to work need it sit awhile ran out time making another batch of cookies yesterday

Pouring rain still. We just topped over 2 inches for 15 hours and it's still coming down.

Hanging around the house like a lump today. I picked up a bug yesterday or last night. Yuck.

I'm just glad it's not the flu. There are 2800 cases in the neighboring county alone.

grey and crummy out, so I guess it's the perfect day to laze about.

It has been a wee chilly Penny, but the sun is out and the sky is clean and blue. Very pretty outside!
