What did you do in the garden today?

Cantelope need trellising?

Mine came from Mexico from a fruit I got from the cross border guy sometime in January. Naturally, knowing that the seeds were definitively non GMO and likely heritage we chose to plant them. As you can see there are tendrils that appear to want to twine on some popping up today. I thought they grew on the ground like a pumpkin or watermelon. Must take a strong trellis to support 2 pound fruit if they do.

Do you have room where it is ? We never trellised them

Holy Hole in a Donut Batman! I got some seeds sprouting...and they're my "park seed" spinach mix ones too!!

Also a few cosmos and what I *think* is some type of chili pepper.

I'm really BAD at not labeling seedlings...its like growing something in your belly and not knowing the gender. Well, maybe not that bad? SURPRISE...its a...something?!?

Didn't get much done outside as I was programming exams for the week to come. All of our courses migrated to an online LMS mid March so I'm like @WthrLady but I'm busting out exams vs. masks. Supposed to be in the high 50's tomorrow so praying to take advantage. Will post pics of the seedlings rising in the next few days granted they don't look like one-legged zombies...

Hugs and Sleeps Well to All!!
Does it matter that I'm juggling DS who is home juggling out exams and a DH who is writing and grading them and final projects? LOL.

Ya I'm getting ready to dump the etsy masks. I'm exhausted and with the Spring chores on the ranch and work work, I just cannot keep up the pace anymore. So the last 12 are done. Anything else will be local people only by request.

Phew. I lost track how many I had to do today. There was a listing glitch and it defaulted to old numbers on stock and so I had orders I wasn't expecting that I had to sew today. 19 Packages going out tomorrow, most with multiples inside. At one point today, I was on the verge of crying. Ya, that's TIRED.

I filled a raised bed with dirt and finally framed out the last raised bed. I got the chain saw out and cut down a small tree that was a ratty mess blocking light from a more preferred red maple. I also cut down an overgrown shrub that was hitting the side of the house. When I came back inside I watered the starts. Lastly, I got in touch with my uncle and will be barrowing his truck and trailer Friday to get rid of 6-7 yds of excess dirt from the garden expansion. Then I just need to finish tilling and plants will go in the ground.

It was a productive day. I wish it was more productive actually, but we're getting there.

Should hit 60 again today . Pear tree is in full bloom finally . Finished privacy fence . Ran out of screws but used some longer ones instead of going out in public to buy . Mowed . I do miss browsing the plants and trees for sale . 10 chicks hatched yesterday . I have not hatched much for 2 years so time for some replacements .

Good morning gardeners. It did get warm yesterday, but the wind still doesn't want to quit. Good news, I have some green movement in one each poblano and jalapeno cell. I'm hoping at least two more start to emerge. I didn't get the lattice fence up on the new garden bed, but I did get the wood posts cut for it. I decided against cutting the lattice in the backyard out of concern the chickens might find the white plastic "sawdust" to be tasty. I'll do the cutting in the garage this morning. It looks like this coming Thursday may be a good planting outside day. I'll keep an eye on the long range forecast just to be sure. Splitting a peace lily: I did that last year. It's really pretty easy. I just pulled the roots apart by hand and divided them. I did have to support them a little until they got over their "separation" shock wobbling. They are both doing well. One of them has had a flower on it for over a month now. I had to separate my rooster from the girls yesterday. He's not mean, just a clumsy guy. I want the girls to have time to heal up from his advances so he is chilling in the bachelor pad for now. The wood on your lanai is beautiful @TropicalBabies. Is it teak? I'm going to take advantage of the mid-50's temps today and get that garden bed fenced before the rain storm comes through later this evening. Have a great day everyone.

Good morning gardeners. I just saw the weather...mid 80s today and tomorrow, then mid 90s the rest of the week, 100* by the weekend :th
I cut back some of the artichoke leaves to make room for planting Gladiolus, they'll go in the empty space in the top pic. The bottom pic here is a bush that blooms with yellow flowers. The chickens don't bother it much. It was spreading out so I trimmed it back so it'll go up instead

The grass frame. I used the clips cut from pants hangers to attach some bird netting to keep the whole top covered, then set the wood frame on top in case a chicken gets ideas about getting on top. I added worm castings to the soil, sprinkled in the seed and covered with miracle grow potting mix before watering

This pic is just because I like it and want to share.

There were 21 artichokes in the bowl. They're mostly small but they have great taste and they're meaty. Have a great day everyone!
