What did you do in the garden today?

We bought a yard King yard tractor blade where dull belt snapped on the drive portion for the blades .. belt broke.
Mower shop said they could not get the right belt try auto parts.. Went to auto part store in town he has it now we will pick it up tomorrow. Another day lost.

I feel like most things today are the result of crappy half-baked engineering. It's like manufacturers purposely design things to break down and fail so they have to be replaced after a few years. No one makes anything that lasts like our grandparents had...

It's not even our grandparent's time, I have a hard time understanding how my 20 year old riding mower runs better than my new mower with 20 hours!

:old BTW, my grandpa's lawn mower was one of those push mowers with the blades rotating around a rod. You did not want to let the grass grow very tall with that mower. Guaranteed to get a good workout even on a small lawn. Picture of something like we had back in the day.

Been there. For the past 20 years, I have always had 2 riding mowers for my 3 acres of property. If one mower breaks down or needs shop repair, then I still can keep up with the lawn with the other mower. I have learned from experience that a shop repair can take weeks where I live. In the summertime, I typically mow my lawn twice a week.

Good morning gardeners. Happy Friday! Everyone’s gardens are looking so good! I love the Passion flowers but not the fruit. Somehow that beauty doesn’t transfer to taste for me. It’s about 0330 here and I’ve been up for a while., I was hot and allergies are making it impossible to breathe. Now that it’s time to stay up I’m getting sleepy of course. I went out to water the smaller stuff in the yard and the fruit trees, now have the soaker on the shrubs outside our wall. We have a couple of warm days at 100+ then a week of average temps in the low 90s. Next weekend we’re renting an auger to dig the holes for the trees so I’ll be finalizing those plans this weekend. The kids are going to help get the backyard straightened up this weekend too, the shed is an absolute disaster!

This is what we have for a mower. All you can get here is electric or rechargeable mowers which run like crap or the batteries quit charging. Since we only have a small patch of grass for the pups it works out. That’s not my job though, hubs gets the honors. Anyway, time to make some coffee and turn off the hose. Have a great day all!

SHOCKER! <sarcasm>

It’s RAINING! It’s OVERCAST! It’s going to RAIN all day or most of it! It might reach 60F!

Ok, ok, enough with the bad attitude-but we’ve had only about 4 days this year where it was reasonably warm enough, dry enough, and calm enough (less windy) to actually do anything outside beyond feeding animals. So, I’m ready for some nice weather. Apparently we begin to have nicer weather tomorrow afternoon/evening, but Sun, Mon look nice -not very hot, but warmer and dry (supposedly).

I think we might consider planting a couple fruit trees in the garden area-right now they are along the N side of the driveway. But we identified 2-3 spots in the garden that might be good for a fruit tree (that is kept pruned). We also decide to put Rhubarb beds on the N side of the compost bins. The grass here is very green from the compost ooze in that area. Plus, rhubarb can handle some shade and coolness.

Today I will water, been 6 days since rain and warm. We are going to hit the 70s today! Found a $1 plant sale on craigslist 15 min from me tomorrow, you all know what I will be doing ;)

City wide garage sales this weekend here too! Again you all know what I will be doing, lol.

Enjoy the day, be thankful for what you have and work to achieve what you want.
