What did you do in the garden today?

If you have excess basil, make Pesto and freeze it for use in the winter as an addition to pasta sauce, over baked salmon, etc.

If you have excess garlic, make Garlic Confit. Basically poached garlic. Freeze in small jars and use in pasta sauce, on garlic bread, whatever.

Yum!

Rosemary was too fragrant for the ants and they ran away @WthrLady. Lol! Still picking cherry tomatoes and occasional SM tomatoes. What doesn’t get used fresh has ti go into the freezer for canning later. The big front burner on my new stove isn’t working properly so it’s not safe to can on. It’s still under warranty but the repairman can’t get here for 2 more weeks. Wah! Then they are just troubleshooting first.
I was joking.
Rosemary, as a woman, not a plant.

I picked all the big beans I'd missed, 2 gallons worth, food processed them & the girls are eating them. Got another gallon of human green beans too. :gig

Supposed to rain so I don't need to water. I think I'm done watering anyway, the cukes are dead & the beans...well, I'm done with them, lol.

Bout all I got!

ETA: I did decide to not grow garlic this fall. Too hard on my back & the grocery store sells it for 9 cents a head (I think it's a mistake, but it's been that way forever so :idunno ).

Pulled my yellow squash plants. Two different varieties. I still had them coming on, but can't use them. Sent a bunch to the food bank today with what I got the last few days. Lots! Sent some tomatoes too. Keeping the tomatoe plants for a while. They've slowed down..except the cherry tomatoes keep coming. Yum

Along the lines of giving away free seeds, I have a BUNCH of seed packets that I pulled out of my mom's shed. I have no idea if these seeds are viable, but if you want to take a chance on them, shoot me a PM with your address.

Here's what I have -

Sunflowers (assorted colors & sizes)
Zinnias
Billy Buttons
Bunching onions
Parsley
Cilantro
Basil
Cabbage

Great suggestions. I dehydrate and pack a cup or so, full of lightly packed Basil leaves for giving to my family and friends along with other select herbs and my spice/chili blends in the packages. I always have plenty of chili flakes and powders, oregano, basil, chives, parsley and thyme . Excellently received as Christmas gifts. I make chili garlic blends for Chinese style dishes as well as red hot pepper sauces/garlic pepper sauces and dried powder blends. Cooks love them! I love Pesto! Freezing it just has not occurred to me for some reason. Fresh is great but frozen is so convenient.
