What did you do in the garden today?

Question: Anyone use a grow tent to start your transplants? Is it worth the money?
I think that depends on your location and the length of your growing season. It’s not worth it here because our season is long and it’s easier to just plant right in the ground. In your area it may be, but man they’re expensive!

G’morning all. I’m sad to read about all the damage some of you have; our weather has been pretty crazy. I didn’t do anything outside this weekend. The teenager fell at school and his arm was hurting pretty bad. Yesterday he went to NASCAR with his mom for his birthday. I guess the good news is the work will still be there when we get around to it. I have the broody some chicks, one didn’t make it so we have just 2. I’m good with that. It was storming and I found a heads up penny on my way to get them, so we have Stormy and Lucky. I don’t have pics yet, mama is protective and meaner than a junkyard dog. I did notice that the two chaste trees that were bare now have wee green leaves on them so they’ve all survived the winter. Super happy about that, they’ll provide some good shade out there when they grow up. That’s about it for me, have a great day all.

A little too early to tell, I need to heal from the actual surgery before I put the new device to the test! But so far so good. Thanks for asking. ❤️

Woke up to snow on the ground. 🤨
Hoping for the best for you then! I don’t have your issues but my husband did and I remember how miserable he was.

Very windy here today. Wind from 15 to 25 mph with 50 mph gusts. The dogs don't even like to spend much time outside. The roof panel that was hanging by a stripped out screw ended up near the corn patch. I wrangled that back to the side of the house. A bag of trash on my neighbors porch burst and is blowing in the wind all through the neighborhood. I did make a quick run to the grocery store this morning. I got the tomato seeds started (indoors of course), along with some Bok Choy and Lavender. I finally got the difference between Bok Choy and Pak Choy straight. Bok Choy has a green stem and Pak Choy has a white stem. My fingerling seed potatoes arrived today. I ordered from Azure in Oregon. They had the best price and lowest delivery costs. I haven't had any luck finding regular seed potatoes locally. I have white potatoes sprouting on top of my refrigerator I will likely plant then try to find some organic red potatoes in the grocery store. The prices are really outrageous this year. I've decided to use the back corner of my big garden for my youngest grand kid's garden space. The original plan was to build some benches to put the new grow bags on but I'm just a bit overwhelmed by the garden clean up and general outdoor Spring cleaning I just don't have it in me to be building much. I found a couple of inexpensive tables that will work just fine and I'll be moving the extra garden arch to her spot so she can grow flowering vines or something. She can also put the 10 gallon grow bag on the ground. Less work for me. I will be edging her area and putting down mulch to keep the grass and weeds away. I'm hoping the winds subsides enough tomorrow so I can mix another batch of dirt for the strawberry bags and get them out of my refrigerator. At least the grass is greening up. The real good news is no rain in the forecast for at least a week. Yay!

Today I planted 8 pots each of Purple Coneflower and New England Aster. I want to get a stand of them going for the honeybees. I want to do another set of each.

I also filled 20 pots with soil and watered them. They need to warm up so that I can start tomatoes and peppers in 2-3 weeks. My potting soil is in a big tote, so it's still plenty chilly.

A couple of warm days (60s with 45 for overnight lows) and then temps get more seasonal, thank goodness! I just hope these few days don't get the trees over excited.
