What did you do in the garden today?

:caf Still active on the BYC forums. This thread just moves so fast that I cannot keep up with it. I don't get any notices unless someone tags my address/name. I don't consider myself any kind of expert in gardening, but I do enjoy it. If you have some questions for me, just make sure you tag my address so I will get notified. Having said that, there are a lot more people on this thread with more knowledge than me. But I will always help if I can.
For the life of me I can't remember what I wanted to ask but I know it's going to probably come to me when I'm busy and I will forget it again. I'm glad you're still on here though. Have a great day

Okay... Here's some better pictures of the mystery vine.

This is the closest thing to a "flower" on this thing. It has these little leaf clusters every 4-6" or so.

This is how the vine looks when it emerges from the undergrowth and has full sunlight.

This is the vine wrapping itself rather tightly around the fence. It is pretty common to see multiple vines or shoots wrapped tightly together on anything it can use (the fence in this case) to climb vertically

After much digging and yanking, I managed to pry up ONE spot where it was rooted in the ground. I cannot overstate how dang near IMPOSSIBLE it is to pull this out by hand.

Those roots remind me of the type of mallow that's growing in my yard. Those roots are so deep that I just about fall on my bottom end every time I try to remove one.

Pulled the leaf litter I put in my garden in the fall off the place I'm going to plant onions. Now the soil can warm up! So excited for spring to get here. I broke my wrist in two places last fall and tore some tendons so didn't get a whole lot done out in the garden to prepare it for spring. My garden isn't huge since I live in a neighborhood, but she is a workhorse and provides our family with so much!

I don’t think you give yourself enough credit. You’re creative and provide a lot of great info!

All I did today was take these pics and feed the crew. It’s getting breezy already and is supposed to increase in speed as the day goes. Also have storms headed our way which are supposed to hit this afternoon/evening. I was outside just before moonset and it was a beautiful sight. A few fat clouds lined by the light of an almost full moon. Cool breeze on my skin but not cold I needed a sweater :love

I found this interesting until
halfway through.

:idunno I'm not quite sure how that Canakan is any better than a plastic bag with seeds on cloth or a paper towel in it and then set on a heating mat would work? Seems like a gimmick to me, but I did check out the link in the YouTube video to see how much they sell it for. I could not get any price on the item because they don't have any for sell, something blamed on recent tariffs and availability.

Maybe those [edit: "cannabis enthusiasts"] have the time and energy to treat every seedling as precious as a first-born infant, but I tend to start and pot my garden seedlings in bulk, putting 2 or 3 seeds in each starting pot (net cup), and pruning back to the one healthiest plant. That method seems to work well for me and I don't have to buy any special gizmo for the initial germination.

I do agree that the roots of the seedlings might grow into the paper towel if you use that method for germination prior to potting up the seedling. Some people have told me that using fabric cloth will prevent the seedling root from growing into the material, and thereby you have less damaged seedlings whe

I have saved an old pair of blue jeans that got ripped up in the seat. I am going to cut that into squares to put in my baggies, or in my seed germination containers, to see if the denim works better than paper towels.

I only use the "paper towel" method of germination for my old seeds that I expect might have poor germination rates due to their age. No need to waste time and energy potting up old seeds if you expect only 10% germination rate, for example. Just use the paper towel method first to see which seeds are still viable.

:tongue Having watched that video and gone to the website of that canakan item, I'm probably on some government watch list now! If you guys don't hear anything from me in the near future, just assume I'm locked up in some hole in the ground.

:old Well, it's not the first "gardening" video I have watched that turned out how to grow cannabis better. But like I said, those cannabis videos usually treat each and every seed like a precious child and are willing to put in all kinds of time and effort into the process. I only grow garden vegetables. I bulk plant and prune seedlings. It's just a totally different approach on some levels.
