What did you do in the garden today?

I did too! Looked it up and the the first thing that popped out was “suffers in high humidity”. Scratch that off my want list
They are a slooooow grower though. Belatedly I learned that most people in the South start theirs in December indoors so they are far enough along to actually flower the following summer. They are sensitive to temperatures (both hot and cold) depending on growing stage. There are also different types so don't be quick to assume they won't grow well for you. Just takes understanding of the types you want. I probably started mine too late (February, and I'm Zone 7B). Next year I'll start mine earlier. I get my seeds from Eden Brothers and Johnny's.

Oh...so beautiful, thank you for posting photos of your garden plants.
Your corn plants on the ground, do you clear out weeds often? I can not plan anything on the ground as the grass/weeds take over in a blink of an eye so it seems. The soil also dried up very quickly. Might be it is just my weather here.

Is your Gold raspberries in a pot?
Yes, normally I have a thick layer of old pine shavings under a layer of old hay between the rows to keep down the weeds. However, the flash flooding we had washed it all away. It has finally dried up enough this week that you can walk out there... Before, it was so wet that you'd sink in muck up to your ankles. 🙄 So I haven't been able to walk through there and weed it or replace the weed barrier (old shavings & hay)

Oh! Almost forgot... No, the Double Gold raspberries are in a raised bed to help with drainage but it's in the ground so roots can go deep.

Went out and checked the squash plants for SVB eggs again. Found a couple on stems that weren't heavily coated so I decided to spray another coat of kaolin clay on all the plants. Wish I could make it stick better... Wonder if adding a bit dish soap would help?

I keep forgetting to check them at night with a flashlight but nothing has wilted or collapsed yet so I guess that's a good sign.

I just have a few more weeks to go and then SVB should be done for the season.

Just checked the weather... Rain, rain, and more rain... 🙄🌧️🙄🌧️ Going to hot & sticky... 🫩

Sprayed the grapes again with more Bordeaux Mix (copper sulfate + hydrated lime). Definitely going to have to put more kaolin clay on the squash at some point with all this rain.

There is a spreader sticker product available. Not sure where I got it. Had it for years.
