What did you do in the garden today?

Canning day today. 14 half pints plus 3 pints of bread and butter pickles, and 7 pints of raw pack green beans that were picked this morning. I cut the beans into short 1 inch sections thinking smaller pieces would pack into the jars better. I was out in the garden in the dark at 5am this morning picking cukes for the pickles too. Long, long day.

Loving that little piggy cutting board! I've had the same one for 50 some years, lol

Thanks! I made that one in school shop class around 50 years ago, and copied the shape from a pig board that my uncle made for my grandma, most likely in the 1940s.

All 24 of the jars I canned sealed nicely, Kerr, Ball and Walmart lids. Got 'em labeled, put some in the pantry and trying to figure out where I'm going to put the rest of them. I think I'm going to have to build some shelves somewhere.

AH! Here's a link to what I did. I got the info from Keene Garlic.

Thanks that's a great article. It's amazing how many times I read to use cheap vodka as a sterilizer 😂 and I have it on hand for that. Tastes terrible though 😕
Yeah, great info. Thanks! I'm going to try it when I plant garlic next month.

Those garlic cloves in the article are huge! Mine are nowhere near that size.

My elderly cat decided to pee on my area rug yesterday. Not sure if she couldn't get to the litter box or was just mad that I kicked her out of the bedroom at night. 🫩 So I've spent the past 4 hours disinfecting, sanitizing, and shampooing the rug in the garage. This is the very reason I refuse to allow carpet in my house at all. Everything is hardwood floors or ceramic tile... At least area rugs can be taken outside and thoroughly cleaned. If it was carpet, I'd have to end up tearing it out. No thanks...

Of course I'd love to hang it in the sun to sanitize and dry but of course it's cloudy and thinking about spitting for a moment or two. 🙄

when one of mine cats stopped using litter box I didn't pay much attention. it was too late when I found out he had a kidney stone. cats need to eat fresh meat/blood to prevent forming stones. lesson learned hard way. he was my sweetest cat ever.

I've got regular rectangle cutting boards but my cast iron bacon press is a fat piggy. No idea how old he is but he's up there.
