What did you do with your flock today?

Aloha kakahiaka gang!
Today I let Ivan out for some exercise. I have been out of the habit due to arbor work and chicken changes. So, this morning was his time. I belatedly grabbed my camera to get some photos as I don't really have any or many nice ones of him. He is kind of a punk and was named Ivan the Terrible. Now he is just Ivan. He is good with people and does a great dance. But fought with Spider through the fence as always and attacked Forest kitty (just a little but it was a first for Forest). Ivan just can't stay still and it is hard to get a good photo of him but I noticed through all of his ridiculousness he started collecting onlookers.

But, like all things Ivan... he just had to screw it up. And this is why he is not the # 1 guy.

Oh gosh @kurby22 . Must be mosquitos. Poor thing. ♡ is the first bump/scab changing at all? Better or worse? Just wonder if this is the start of pox. If so, you just gotta let it ride, though I always add vitamins to my water when I see signs. It helps them sail through it better or so I think.
Yeah I hope it’s just mosquitoes, although I read that they are the carriers of fowl pox so I guess we shall see. 😣 the main scab and bump looks the same and hasn’t grown or changed at all, so I feel that’s maybe a good sign? Gonna leave out a waterer with vitamins while we are gone. Gotta work on Brads crop today too sighhh. Vacation came at the wrong time! 🤪

Love the name! It fits a rooster well! He’s very pretty!!

Ivan’s tail feathers are so pretty! :O

I’ve been letting Coco free range in hopes it’ll fatten her up a bit. She’s been really good about it, and she’s starting to become one of my new favorites.
Other than that, I don’t think I’ve been doing anything different with them recently. Just the usual clean the coops, fill up food, and of course hug them all. : P
I got a few pics of Becky and her nice feathers. She’s camera shy so they’re nothing good, but I’m posting them anyway.

Coco, when I had her out. The poor girl is 2lbs of solid fluff.

And then I spent some time with the quail. I normally don’t go in there, unless I’m giving everyone live mealworms, so they love me. XD

Ahhh they’re all so pretty! I love seeing pictures 😍

You have quail too?? How many? I forget! We just left early this morning for Disneyworld and already my pet sitter got one of my birds murdered. :-( Apparently she wasn’t listening when I told her the quail CANNOT be let out as they will fly away. AND she opened their doors while my dog was out back…so he killed the one who flew into the yard :-( She didn’t know how many got out either so I have no idea who is gone. She called it a chicken too, so I was panicking that one of my babies got killed UGHHHH. I love my quail too but it’s not the same! I’m so upset! My rooster attacked her too, so she’s a frazzled mess and feels horrible. What a way to start the trip! Blah!!

So sorry @kurby22 . I had a similar experience happen when I had to go to Oahu for my DH's emergency. That was years ago and I'm still not over it lol. Some people are not as smart as they would like us to believe. My pet sitter was 30. After 5 days I was down 3 chickens and a $300 vet bill for my horse.
BUT. Leave it all behind and enjoy your family. It may be awhile b4 you do this again. Also, hope she learned from her mistake. 🙏🙏🙏

@frankiI love the grass you have in your quails estate. Is that Timothy or did you cut and dry?? Looks super comfortable.

After the rain last week our Green Panic grass bolted. So, I asked DH to cut me some to dry on my coop roof. It is the BEST nesting material and I like that it is so readily available. Lucky us.

Wonderful Spider, think he is hanging with and keeping his watchful eye on the babies 😉 such a good boy.

Just too handsome to not share.
Gave the last dose of wormer to the flock last eve. Poop boards looked great this am.
Will give them papaya, pro bios and vitamins in the water later.
Beautiful Sunday here ♡ a bit cooler and we will be putting up our x-mas lights after chores. We have MIL this weekend so are just doing basics.
I hope everyone is having a wonderful day. Aloha! 🌴 :frow
