Oh my ♡ those are some pretty girls. Thank you for sharing. Absolutely love the names too. You have a super pretty flockThats Coppertop! Isnt she pretty? The attached pics are Rosie and Delicious! Thanks for asking Tropical babies!
I vote for all around nuts-o-what...that definitely sounds like the most fun ❤X2! ☝
I have enough trouble staying ontop of hatching eggs...
I'd actually love to have a litter of kittens, but Kauai has such a feral cat problem I'd be an idiot to do it on purpose. I'm sure I will be in a place to assist a momma cat one day and that will have to do. I am planning on being a crazy chicken and cat lady... maybe bag and motorcycle... or just all around nuts-o-what?! And I too will have to be solo in the end as I don't want my babies to have to get rehomed. My husband and I have already had "the condo" talk
Really beautiful birds there!Thats Coppertop! Isnt she pretty? The attached pics are Rosie and Delicious! Thanks for asking Tropical babies!
They look very comfy in there! Do all your coops open at the same time and the birds get to choose which coop they want? You guys, it RAINED yesterday and today! Highs in the low 70s! I’m so happy and wish I could enjoy it more!
But alas, I have a major head cold I brought back from Chicago and I’ve been down and out since Sunday
On the bright side, Spider has FINALLY accepted the new coop set ups and found a coop for bedtime last night. Only took 8 days. And it wasn’t the coop I wanted them to use, but both Polish chose the big kid coop. Even funnier is my giant Lav Orp boy crams himself in the smallest coop despite me trying to let him be in the big kid coop! Guess I’m gonna need to add another roost bar
Yeah they open in the morning at the same time and close at night at the same time! So they choose their coop! They usually have three coops to choose from with a big shared run. They look very comfy in there! Do all your coops open at the same time and the birds get to choose which coop they want?
I'm so curious if your birds will settle into flocks based around different roosters or based around who they grew up with!Yeah they open in the morning at the same time and close at night at the same time! Oh fun! As The Coops Turn is in your future! I have had to work pretty hard to make sure everyone blends well and sometimes it takes a bit of forced hand and other times they figure it out themselves. Both options are entertaining in some way or another. Depending on breed and personality they are either cliques or assimilate in my experience! For example, my ODs are in the bantam run and they are their own little Swedish posse. I brought home the Swedish Hedemora pullet and put her in with my Brahma and d’Uccle and silkies and she said no thanks, and ditched them for the ODs! She’s now head hen of the Swedish posse and pecks each OD in the head as the come into the coop each night.I'm so curious if your birds will settle into flocks based around different roosters or based around who they grew up with!
Most of my life I've had two coops...a keep coop and a cull coop with a little over half an acre between them and the birds could be let out at the same time and rarely mixed. Now I'm building new coops all close together and close to the house and have gone from two to 4 and it'll be six chicken coops when I'm done (the oldest, furthest coop is going to my kids so not counting it)...I'm going to have to learn a lot about how to let the birds out without a lot of chicken drama. I'm looking forward to hearing your observations on how they mingle and everything
