What did you do with your flock today?

Stan is clearly listening to his dad sometimes! This is the first time he's done egg-laying duty with one of the girls - and obviously with dad Ferdy's blessing as he would have soon moved him on if he wasn't comfortable with him cozying up with Clara. Clara is Ferdy's favourite.

Found another king snake in the garden today. This one's a little thing with the prettiest yellow dot on its forehead We're getting a few repeat king snake visitors. Love having these guys around.

I had to apologize to the flocks this morning because somehow I over slept and got a late start. l think they are all happy once again. The Delawares are in the woods chilling after a shower of rain crossed over and cooled us down to an acceptable 87°. No clue where the RI's wandered off to but when it's feeding time again they will be bellied up to the feed bunk. The others are no telling where. The two sets of young hormonal roosters are driving all the other pullets crazy. They make the mistake of challenging a real roo now and then and get put into time out quick. I'm going to let the rain stop and while waiting I think I deserve a nap.

It's been so hot here in Florida, and needless to say myself and my flock are not a fan!

Lots of trips outside to refill their pool with cold water, and giving them some electrolytes to help them beat the heat.

And certainly can't forget yummy watermelon as a refreshing treat!
