What did you do with your flock today?

Aloha kakahiaka! 🌄
I've decided living in a small cabin with 5 cats locked indoors is nuts. Their nap time is beautiful... but the rest of the time is wild. Im cleaning 2 litter boxes 6x a day, feeding them 10x a day. They are also literally moving furniture. I'm living with fuzzy stinky hungry purring Poltergeist. Nuts. Poor kitties, poor me 🤪, lol!

Well, of course, 4 cats ontop of me last night I had to get up several times- early, early, early for pre dawn feeds and fussys. 5:30 I started coffee and walked up to the lookout with Elliott to escape the chaos, lol. The crispy clear morning, stiff cool breeze, a few shy birds fluttering just out of sight, the stunning quiet and grand view... it was truely amazing... so this is what the kitties want...?!

Back at the coop, I opened the pop door, raked a pile of branches with leaves mixed in for take out, and then spread mulch.

I may ride Boo down to pick up chick feed. I also need to have DH help me get brooder into the run so I can cut and install legs on it. May try and split off some space to add a nest box untill the whole thing becomes one. Ive had quite the line up for the temp 2 cat carriers that I have as boxes for them now. Almost time to focus on nestboxes.

In the eve I weed whacked and raked the traveled spots in the yard. Will open the run for the chickens to free range tomorrow. Maybe let the cats out this afternoon.

I guess it's time I get the nest boxes built and put in place. My pullets are somewhere between 15 and 16 weeks old. The combs and wattles look like they're starting to get a little larger and redder, too. And when I stepped into the run today with a fresh bucket of water one the pullets did the submissive squat for me. LOL

I'm guessing I'll get the first egg in a couple weeks or so. Might have to celebrate with that one and turn it into egg nog!

DH helped me get brooder into the run were I gave it its 3rd life. I installed its new stand, then we reframed it to a slight gable with a 1ft overhang on all sides, replacing the single pitch. Nice place to gather and I think it will be cute.

Girls got a little pasta and some scratch and gave me a bunch of eggs in trade ♡ plus a lot of fun.

I hear ya! I once woke up with eleven cats on me and a twelfth biting my nose! None of them were mine 🤣

Well...it's after 4:30 and it's still 108° outside. I don't know where my energy or heat tolerance went today but nope...I don't want to be out in that today. But guess I better eh? Poor birds are such troopers. They're hot but lively, so think I'll wander the garden and pick them some treats to add to the kitchen scraps. They're awfully cute in their excitement when they see me coming with the treat bowl.
