What do folks do besides take care of chickens I mean!

well i don't really do much of anything but take care of the kids, homeschool and then there is the wife thing. oh and i oversee animal care around here. that's pretty much it. the older i get the less interesting i get. it wasn't so long ago that i had time for painting and writing but those days are gone. it's okay though cause there are so many things i've learned and can do now with the animals that i would have never known about had we stayed in town.

~I was a stay at home mom until my third and last son entered school full time. (Wish I still was)

~Then I worked in a security position at an international port...things really changed there after 2001.

~While working security I returned to school and became a nurse.
`Two years as a visiting home health nurse
`Six months as a med-surgical nurse

Wow! some great jobs listed here.

I am currently doing the hardest job I've ever had... a SAHM to 3 girls aged 14, 6, 2.

I'm able to do this because my husband is self-employed. He has a small but growing trucking company. 4 trucks, 8 employee's. I run the office, AP/R, Payroll, book keeping...you get the picture... from this computer at home.

I look forward to the day when my youngest enters school full time so I can afford to get outside work...so I can talk to other grown-ups.

I have 2 college degrees and use neither of them. 1. degree in Agriculture specializing in Equine Technology 2. degree in Library and Information Technology.

The chickens are the best idea I've had in years. They are wonderful entertainment and therapy for me and the few extra $ from egg sales don't hurt either.

Well I own my business brickmason have about 12 people right now, when people ask what I do I tell then I run an adult daycare and I do brick and block on the side,me and a friend of mine sell pasture raised eggs, broilers, turkeys and beef to people and to restarants and we have a sawmill so I tend to stay pertty busy witch tends to keep me out of trouble.

I am a graduate of The Ohio State University with a BS in Agriculture, AS in Agronomy, and an AS in Pre-Agricultural Education ("Pre" because I just have an associates and cannot teach high school Vo-Ag other than at a vocational school).
During college I worked at: a church camp as grounds maintenance, lifeguard, and a belayer on the high ropes course; a local farm rducing sweet corn, pumpkins, gourds, and indian corn; a YMCA as a lifeguard; greenhouse at OSU working with different weeds and resistance to chemical control; the grounds maintenance crew at OSU; and the Ohio Division of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Soil and Water Conservation doing work on soils mapping.
After college I continued working for ODNR until obtaining a job working as a District Technician at a local Soil and Water Conservation District. After a year there (and a zero budget for the district and talk of having to eliminate my position), I applied for and got my current job. I am a grazing specialist with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). I get to work with farmers in 5 counties to help them develop a plan for rotational grazing their farm.
When I'm not at work, I fill my time with helping on both my family and DH's family's farms (making hay, raising cattle... my parents sell naturally raised freezer beef). DH and I are both volunteer fire fighters and that sometimes takes up a lot of time, but is worth it. We are working on our little rented place with our critters (chickens, pigs once a year for now, dogs, and a cat), but dream of having a place of our own where we can raise and sell freezer beef, pork, chicken, turkeys, eggs, pumpkins, gourds, etc.

My dream is to be a stay at home mom once we have kids of our own. I hope that building a business selling our home raised products will help us to be able for me to stay home with the kids. I also enjoy baking, sewing, quilting, camping, hiking, truck and tractor pulls, working on vehicles, photography, and pretty much anything outdoors.

Whew! I wrote a book! lol. Sorry about that!
