What do you all think about Euthanasia?

Yes, but Capital Punishment needs to be faster, public and painful.

The trouble with capital punishment is that some of the people on death row are innocent. Far too police departments are much more interested in clearing a case than they are in solving it. Sloppy police work and inept defense result in wrongful convictions.
Therein lies one of the dangers that one must except to live in a society. There is nothing new about innocent people being executed. Some major examples that come immediately to mind are:
  • The Crusades
  • The Reformation
  • The Settling of the West
  • The American Revolution
  • The French Revolution
  • The Russian Revolution
  • The Salem Witch Trials
I feel certain that there are many other examples. Society has a right to protect itself, and regrettably mistakes are occasionally made with the best of intentions. The only other option is to live without contact with others.

I totally disagree with Euthanasia, I have a faith in God, and I beleive no one has the right to take a life, even your own.....

Don't unsubscribe. This is what makes America great!

I disagree with the poster that believes that God is the only one in control of life and death, but would defend his/her right to believe that way.

Freedom, Liberty are very important to me. It is what this country was founded upon.

As far as God controlling life and death, that's fine, but without the medications we have available to us, we would be dead anyway, so perhaps we have cheated God calling us home. Then again it could be argued that God gave us that technology or the knowledge to discover it. I don't know.

As far as Justice, who was it said, I would rather 100 guilty men go free than convict an innocent man?

That said, once convicted, justice should be swift for the greater good of society. Nobody wants to kill an innocent person, yet as a society, we must have deterrents to crimes against the people and not house people for ridiculous amounts of time.

As a society, we believe expenses are too high. How many tax dollars would we save by executing a lot faster?

I could go on and on, but.... looks like the thread has gotten its own wayward spirit.

Um where on my post did i say that God is the only one in control of life and death.....? I never said that, in fact life and death is in our hands...if it was in the hands of God, He would have stopped people would'nt he ? - but people are looking at Euthanasia as the only way out, and clearly it is not......

When you said no one has the right to take a life, I assumed that by your faith, that that was God's job.

I believe we are over legislated. If a person wants to take their own life then that is between them and God, not our court system.

I don't believe that anyone said that Euthanasia is the "only" way out. In my opinion, and my opinion only, it is an option. When I look at a law, I wonder.... someone that assists in a suicide.... what danger are they to society? We lock people up supposedly because their crime and propensity to commit further crimes makes them a danger to society, thus we remove them from said society. What is the danger of someone who pulls the plug? Are they going to turn into Kevorkian?

Anyway,

To your health,

Shawn

Its hard sometimes to write something without it coming accross all wrong, I am not at all angry, and I do also believe that anyone is entitled to their opinion, as you stated....A question was asked at the beginning of this thread, and therefore I gave my opinioh, if you or no one else agrees with it, thats ok....its still my opinion.....
