What do you do if your order is wrong?

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: There is no excuse for poor customer service! I work retail! Saying that something is the customer's fault is just not okay. Even if your orders were confused, there are other ways to say it.

Yes, everyone has bad days, but as someone who deals with the public, I can say that you don't need to show it to the customer.

I think this quote tells it the best.

So we have had 5 phone contacts with them, and in 4 cases, the customer service people were wonderful, clear, accommodating, and so pleasant; in the other case, this particular person was so rude and short with me (and this was only the first change) that I was tempted to cancel the whole business and deal with a different hatchery.

One rude person leaves a huge impression. I hope you get it straightened out.

You will love them their "ameraucanas" are EEs but fabulous birds. I only lost one little SF after 3 days but she never did thrive. Everyone was healthy I did not even have one pasty butt in 22 babies from them. They arrive from OH to Oregon and were in my hands less than 36 hours from hatch. They contacted me to tell me they had been shipped and CALLED me back 2 days later to see if my order was okay.

Edied for horrendous typos

I'm in Oregon too so nice to hear they got to you fast. Mine get delivered to my office so there's 36 people waiting for the annual box o' peeps.

Great. yeah mine hatched on Monday and the distribution center called me at 4 pm on Tuesday so they did not have to wait overnight to come to my little town.

Sorry for the hijack of the thread.

I've had to deal with MM alot this spring (my first with chicks). I changed my order twice as well and each time, I received an email within an hour with the changes so I could check them. If you have that email, they shouldn't give you any grief about someone picking the chicks wrong. Also, everyone has been wonderful on the phone except this one girl who didn't seem to care that only six of my order of 26 were still alive after two days. At that point, I didn't care much about the order being guaranteed, I wanted to talk to someone who was concerned that 20 baby chicks died. This was not the girl for the job. Hopefully, she'll find employment elsewhere soon- maybe with the IRS.

HI All,
This is my second year ordering from McM and I've had a very good experience with them. I changed my order twice this year and called a few times to ask questions. The order came very quickly, completely correctly and I lost two chicks (one in transit, one a few days later) leaving me with a total of 25 chicks which is what I paid for.
As for customer service, I did get a young lady on the phone twice that I could tell was not a happy camper! The other two women I dealt with were perfect! I think this is one of those "one bad apple" instances. Sorry about your experience with McM but my feeling is that they'll try to make up for it.
