What do you guys think of these colts? Pics on page 3,6,7,8 & 12

The paint's eye doesn't bother me. He looks cheeky like he could throw a couple of good bucks but I doubt he's mean. I'm interested in his legs & I will hopefully get more photos tomorrow.

I have to agree with OnTheSpot as well.
While temperment cant be reliably determined by photo, I think you will get bored easily withthe younger QH, both because of the wait and because QH's are much more mild mannered then most.

The Andulusian X seems much more in line with what you might be looking for. Older, ready to start and used to free ranging, will probably be a bit more "free spirited" then the QH yearling that has been a mommas boy.

I am an avid arab person, grown up with and raised/shown them , but even I had a instinctive "No" to the paint/arab.... why? who knows... might actually be a really fine horse.

Anyway, good luck!

the bay is not terrible from what little I can see. the paint is built a little more like an arab and something just tells me hes going to have an attitude, I agree and think its the eyes.

A 3 year old is much much more in line with what you want to do (even if you "wouldn't canter for several months yet") than the yearling, IMHO.

As far as which if either to buy... it seems to me it depends on a) temperament, which we can't assess from photos, and b) conformation as it relates to general soundness prospects, which we can't assess from any of the photos you've posted.

So without reasonably decent conformation-type photos I'm not sure how much sensible can be said other than an older horse is more riding-ready than a younger one.

Good luck, have fun,

Pat

The Andalusian cross would be ideal for starting to ride but not enough pictures close up to see what temperment he might shine thru.

The QH colt, well, it would be Rusty's and Pat's advices that I would take seriously.

The Arab paint, my vibes showed he got some sneakiness or meaniness going on. He will have an attitude later once he gets to know you. It is not friendly expressive eyes. He kinda likes to have the feed to himself without anyone near him. I would pass on him by.

If you can, take more pictures of the Andalusian cross and QH on its sides, front and back and head shots as well as motion shots if you can.

wow thats the most pretty colt I have evre seen, a little under-fed looking though

Do you think that the person/people offering these for sale would like you "test drive" your choice for about a month? That would give you a better indication of their personalities and what you have to work with.

Still having issues with fencing in your area...but watched animal cops south africa, so know that fencing can be an issue...

I know YOU like to ride bareback with a long rein...
But will you be able to control your stallion if a herd of mares, some in heat come running by or up to the fence?
Will you train your horse to ignore other horses on the trail?

I like the bay colt, and you may be able to have him registered an Azteca, which are half Andalusian, half QH http://www.americanazteca.com/
