what do you LIKE about Christmas?

I love lights and the every year seasonal hope for the return of the light, wearing the black velvet shirts to gatherings that stay in the closet the rest of the year, singing at the candlelight service, listening to the holiday jazz on Pandora.

my kids faces when they were young opening their presents now my grandkids and the "i didnt know i wanted that" and the big hug from a small child.
Christmas day is the one time it is family only and we all cram in one house sit around the dinner table and talk and laugh play with the kids or snooze on the sofa after lunch. and although its not openly we all know what the true meaning of christmas is about and for me its a quiet moment at the end of the day when all the fun and excitement is over i thank God for my blessings my family and friends.

I love every single thing about Christmas... from dressing the tree and house, to sending cards, to buying gifts and wrapping them as special as possible.... to still "playing Santa for my children (25 - 14)... to lighting the candles on Christmas morning before everyone is up.. then standing at the bottom of the stairs with my reindeer bells and shouting "He's been".... and before we open our gifts we always wish Jesus a very Happy Birthday"........

The music.... oh, the music. I love all kinds and have about a hundred CD's of Christmas music. I just can't resist them (usually buy them at Goodwill, however!) We're stuck in the house this weekend due to a winter weather advisory, so it's time to build a fire and put on the Christmas music, whether DH likes it or not. No decorations out, though; that comes later. May bake cookies, too, unless the power goes out!

Everybody I know likes fruitcake. Loaded with fruit and drenched in Rum.

I think if you were lost in the woods with a fruitcake and a tin of sardines you could survive for quite awhile

Dreading the day after this year. Thinking about what I am going to do for "My Next Thirty Years" lol. I turn 30 on the 26th.

What I like about Christmas is watching the kids open gifts and getting together with family that you don't see very often.

The lights. Something about them are so peaceful and make me feel blissful. Of course the cookies come in close second!

I think the "designer" trees all done in monotones, or the ones with all one color ornaments, or white with blue, white with red/gold, etc. can be quite pretty, but my absolute favorites are the ones you mentioned -- trees with all types and varieties of ornaments. I have many that have sentimental significance such as the beautiful carved shell ornament I got in the Bahamas on my first ever real vacation, some that my older sister has given me (a beautiful mirrored heart & a pair of miniature crocheted ballet slippers), the glass steamboat ornament some dear friends gave my DH (the lady has passed away now), my Old World Christmas ornaments in Fox w/ Goose, Cat in Slipper, Cauliflower (which is GORGEOUS and looks a lot like a big magnolia blossom!), fish, etc., ... well, you get the idea. I've got lots of different cat ornaments, lots of Nativity scene ones, a whole collection of Jurgen Scholtz (sp ?) cat capers ornaments, .... I love Christmas! Mostly I love Christmas because it reminds us of the very best Gift of all -- Someone cared enough about us to give His life for us so we wouldn't have to be separated forever from a loving God.

I love the time spent with family and the spiritual feeling that comes from celebrating the Christ-child's birth. I'm still giving thanks for the many blessings I receive on a daily basis.
