What do you think of the new BYC platform?

So does it look like this to anyone else?

Why does it say Private in BSA Rules, Hatching eggs, chicks and Everything else?

Earlier today it even said private for this forum we are posting in now, but now this one is back to normal. I think that's just a little glitch they need to fix.
The Frequently Asked Questions section is listed as private, but I can go in there.

As much as I hate to complain after all the hard work Nifty and others put in to the new BYC, I am really missing the old BYC.

Like others have mentioned, I REALLY do not like the "Currently Viewing" box.
The new BYC is much slower for me than the old BYC.
The new BYC seems to be not near as user-friendly as the old BYC. It seems very cluttered and complicated.


However, I am excited about being able to do polls and have unlimited PM and picture storage space!!!

I see the exact same thing.

When I first logged on to the new site, I saw a lot of ads but I changed my settings and now I don't see all of those ads.

I am reading all the complaints about "all the ads" and I am wondering if others have more ads than I do? I only have two ads to the right of the page when I am looking at a thread in the forums. One is close to the top and then another closer to the bottom. anyone have more than that?

Many people who use Firefox or Chrome, the latest versions, even IE if it is 9, say it's not that slow. I use FF9 and have lag times (waits) of 2-3 seconds at most. Compare this to the minimum of 2-3 seconds it always took to post a reply on the old platform, at least for me -- and that was when it was working right. And we all know there were days it wasn't working so well, with waits in minutes or more, and just plain shutdowns where no one could even get on the forum.

The bottom line is, the old platform would no longer support the size of BYC. It had to go. Also, remember that performance is one of the top issues being addressed -- actually I think the top issue. It will get better, not worse, and the old platform could do nothing but get worse.

No. I haven't gotten that. I did get an error message when after posting I tried to go to a differnt numbered page in the same thread I was posting in. I imagine there will be some glitches that will need to get worked out. It could be that there is so much traffic right now it is bogging down the server.

NO BUY SELL AND TRADE HATCHING EGGS available. I spent a LOT of time in that area that is no more.

Makes me sad.

I also see no advantage to being a Platinum Poultry Member anymore.

Not arguing with you, but I NEVER had waits on old BYC that you speak of..... minutes or more... never did, and I post plenty. It is unfortunate that the BYC members we have on Dial-Up simply will not be able to use this platform much at all.... Just sayin'.....

I agree 100%. Not worth $60. a year, that's for sure......
