They also asked for you to give it a few days and get familiar with it all before voting whether you truly like it or not

Well, if there is not going to be auctions and that is one of the main reason I come here, there is no reason to wait a couple days.

Does an one know of another chicken websites that I can go to. I believe this is another one that is quite good.

I wanted to give it time before voting (and my opinion should be ranked pretty low as I'm having to sell off all my birds with no option to get more for a few years) but upon learning that there will no longer be auctions and only a Craigslist style classified section, I'm having to vote as 'Hate It'.

The reason I spent my 'online chicken time' on BYC was for the auctions - I loved seeing who was selling what and spent many days drooling over everyone's gorgeous birds. Without the ability to sell my Olive eggs and my Fluffy Project eggs on here, I wouldn't have been able to afford to keep so many birds and build all their coops/pens over these last few years. BYC was directly responsible for my expansion - I went from 4 feedstore hens to 7 coop/pens with over 70 adult birds and two incubators running non-stop.

Don't get me wrong, the community aspect here was great - I've learned SO MUCH from reading about people's experiences and their advice really helped me out! I disliked selling on eBay or RareBirdAuctions because of the lack of community - but IF I did have birds, I don't see how I would be able to sell their eggs here anymore, which would mean spending more time on other forums and sites, and less here.

This feels like a bad breakup, like my lover moved to a new apartment in the next town over and wants to start seeing other people.

I'm not voting yet because it would be a knee-jerk reply. It's painfully slow moving so I'm just gonna disappear for a couple days and hope for the best.

C u all later!

Trish

ps...just read a few of the other posts....there's no auctions now? :(

no lagging or slow issues on my end?
i think its kinda funny how the BYC team put in all this effort in to make BYC a better place and everyones jumping ship on day 1 without even giving it a chance... ohh well thinning out the herd i guess

I find it really slow. and we are using newer lap tops and high speed etc. I also find loading photos, they are much smaller. I was so used to the other one. I just need to get adjusted i suppose. I do like some of the new features, adding alot of photos, instead of just one at a time. the cut/paste is awesome. I do miss how I viewed threads i posted and thats going to take some adjusting. i think thats all for now.

I noticed a few people commenting on the "Private" threads in the forum (see above). I don't think they're actually private in the sense that viewing is restricted, I think it just means that posting isn't open in them. Can anyone confirm that that's correct? I'm definitely able to view them.

Oh, I can click on them. Earlier this morning there were some posts and I actually commented on one of them, now they are all gone and there is nothing to see.
