What do you think of the new BYC platform?

Just like you were entitled to your opinion when you fist said that you didnt like it either. Now you have changed your mind... good for you. But do we all have to be like you?
Personally, i dont like it either, because its too jumbled and crowded... to many things going on at once to follow..
But i'll get used to, as we all will... doesnt mean we cant have an opinion about it, especially us long term members.. that have supported BYC for many years.
But i've already told Nifty that when i was invited preview it in the sandbox a while back...
he respected our opinions, shouldnt you?

redhen i get what youre saying and when people dont like it thats different than when some people on here were mocking and being really mean about really little things. in no way did i ever say people arent entitled to their opinions, it just makes me sad that after all the hard work some people have had the gull to say they hate it here and wont come back because of one little thing. I almost take it personally because i value this place as a community more than i dislike the things that have changed that make it a little harder for me to get.
also i never said anyone had to change their mind about it, but i DO think some people are just being stubborn and harsh. i dont see how i was being disrespectful to anyones opinions. I also was in the sandbox and it frightened me quite a bit. its just easier for me to come around than it is for other people. I hadnt given it a real chance when i was in the sandbox, but today i am more relaxed and have more time to really see whats going on.
once again i dont see how i wasnt respecting anyones opionion my being dissapointed by how quickly some poeple turned on the mods. i absolutely feel the need to stick up for the people who worked really hard to make this happen so we can have a smoother running community

Ok, the more I'm playing around on this, the more I'm loving it.

Love the little green thumb below the posts. I just figured out what that's for.. and I love the box to the right that tells you who is in the thread with you. (At least I think that's what it's for.)

I really think this will draw more users.

My brother just joined BYC, he had a couple days on the old format and just started playing on this one.

He loves this one much better, saying the other one was more confusing. So there's a perspective for ya.

Just give it time everyone. We will love it when we get used to it!

Ummm... where is my "show my posts"?

Why can't I rightclick to fix spelling errors anymore?

Why does the little smilie thing have to pop up separately because now it's super slow to load...

I was excited about a new site but now I am having cold feet...

I've read that if you hold down CTRL while right clicking it works.

No more personal pages?

How do you make a poll? Shouldn't I be able to do that?

And when I'm writing in this box and I try to right click it to copy it, the only option is PASTE... same as when I right click a spelling error.

Personal pages are in your profile. You have the list of your recent activity, and the 4 types of activity that are included in that feed. If you unclick all but the one that says "Articles" you will see all the pages you have created.


As someone else already stated, polls are in the full page editor.

Please, don't leave! Everyone, give it a bit more time. When I first came over here to test things out, it was so different and took a lot of getting used to. But after a while, bouncing back and forth between here and the old BYC, I found myself wishing for so many of the features over here. Please try giving this new platform at least 2 days to make your final judgment. Having members leave is the LAST thing they wanted when they made the decision to change!

I'm curious....can we upload photos anymore? Doesn't seem to be a function for uploading photos.

In the reply box here there is a little box with a house on it. Click that and you can upload directly from your computer or from a URL.

I'm okay with most of the changes here. I don't like how our siggys are grey and hard to read. Bummer about that. The other thing I am really missing is the Picture of the Week. Where is it?? Who will be next? That was part of the fun, too! Everyone wanted their picture to be picked and each week it was exciting to see what picture got selected. Did it get relocated? I wish it were back on the homepage again. =( Also... not sure I like the reviews on the right hand side. Maybe that will take some getting used to. But otherwise, once I figured out how to do pictures, uploads, etc... all of that is fine. Posting is working well and I like that we have more options in our posts.

Pictures of the week will now be selected from the "my chicken" pages in the learning center. Upload your chickens pic and a write up little diddy on their personality of whatever and wallah- entered in to the picture of the week contest

It seems so slow....I know it's still being worked on. I really need to post some eggs for sale and it's distressing that I cannot. I cannot find the threads that I participated in before. The format is too busy for my eyesight..which likes to read one area and a time...Now I hope I can remember

And how do folks that had eggs shipped Tuesday give feedback to me on their eggs.

Oh , Our photos are open to comments...I do not like that....I'm not a great photographer....And it may be a project I'm working on... Sigh, well this reminds me of slow dialup.... It took about 5 minutes to load a really short - 2 paragraph and only 1 photo up under other poultry....Hopefully the speed will get faster and I can post again and I tested this before extensively and I'm grateful for all the work but so slow.......Patience, serenity prayers will get me through this....

I couldn't agree more. I don't think my computer's run this slow since I had a 386/DX-20 in 1992.

I just compared Facebooks white to craigslists white and to ebays white-- On my Monitor BYCs was the least birght white of them all. I can see the gray signature lines perfect as well.....
but i dont have any "conditions" and I have 20/20...

maybe the headaches are from the stress of learning to navigate a new style forum?

Just a thought....
