What do you think of the new BYC platform?

I like the new website......I dont think it is hard or confusing just different. We change software at work every couple of years and everyone says how hard it is and they will never figure it out and after a couple of weeks they can't live without it....Keep up the good work BYC!!!!!!!

Ugh... well... um... I kind of like it... that is to say I like the look a lot, I'm still sort of confused and keep exploring. It seems to be loading pretty slowly but hopefully it is just my Internet and the bad weather or something. Anyways I'm trying my best to keep an open mind, I'm sure it will grow on me and all that. I can tell you it's going to take a lot more then a new confusing up grad to dampen my BYC sprite. Again I love the new look and I just want to thank everyone that worked on this, I can only imagine how much hard work really went into making this happen. Thanks

I'm okay with most of the changes here. I don't like how our siggys are grey and hard to read. Bummer about that. The other thing I am really missing is the Picture of the Week. Where is it?? Who will be next? That was part of the fun, too! Everyone wanted their picture to be picked and each week it was exciting to see what picture got selected. Did it get relocated? I wish it were back on the homepage again. =( Also... not sure I like the reviews on the right hand side. Maybe that will take some getting used to. But otherwise, once I figured out how to do pictures, uploads, etc... all of that is fine. Posting is working well and I like that we have more options in our posts.

We're working on some exciting options for the POW.

I voted 50/50.

I too dislike the right column with the ads and the reviews. I have a 17" screen and it still looks all squishy and crowded, even after clicking the expand forum box. I also dislike not being able to browse privately.There should be a setting for the regular members to disable these things as well. It kinda reminds me of the yahoo site page,...stuff all over the place.

And I will miss picture of the week too. I always looked forward to seeing what was chosen for the week.


I do like the tabs at the top and the look of the avatars, and the ease of posting. I am sure I will eventually get used to it though and in a week or so will have no problem browsing through the pages like before.

It is hard to find the threads on which one has posted. Don't like that the photo albums are public and seem open to public comments? Perhaps I am mistaken about that.

Think too much changed too quickly. Doesn't seem as friendly a format. Harder to navigate and find things.

If you wish a pic to be private just don't save it to an album when you upload.

Essentially all of your pics were able to be commented on before - when you posted them

i actually love the new site. I was so surprised that the old BYC had so few functions.

As a noobie to chickens, I love the breed feature. I spent so many hours just trying to figure out what breeds to get...so much easier with the star rating system and reading the reviews.

I also love how the threads that I have subscribed to are on my homepage when i log in so it is easy to see if there is any action/posts in those threads.

I have not noticed any lag time but I am on Google Chrome. Internet Explorer is an inferior browser.
