Where are my posts? I used to like to go everyday to see what others had posted on the Ameraucana thread which I had originally posted too. Was so easy to keep up with something that I am particularly interested in.

go up to the top bar where is say "forums" and scroll over that. a little drop down screen will come out and you will have the option to view unanswered threads, threads youve posted in, etc

You can have more than one browser on any computer. You can download Chrome and have blazing fast BYC and still use your old browser to do your work. They aren't mutually exclusive!

Also, a TON of thought went into the hardware and browsers folks use. Lots of testing, too. It's unfortunate, but at some point, staying with old stuff causes lots of instability, and just because it wasn't visible to BYCers doesn't mean it wouldn't affect or crash the site in the future, as the internet evolved around an archaic platform.

Change is difficult, but in small bites, it can be doable. I encourage everyone to download Chrome, even if it's just to use for BYC, then as you get used to it, you can transition over. It's not at all advisable to leave your old browser alone and not update it- in fact, you may have drag associated with malware running in the background, as that is the first symptom of an old browser being in use: infection.

C'mon folks! We can do this! It's a fine change and you'll enjoy the new BYC more if you open up a little to the big improvements and don't focus on the changes being negative!

Thank you for your thoughtfulness. :) Unfortunately, Chrome causes my job's software to become unstable & we are not allowed to have it on our systems with our company's software because something about file incompatibility or something.

I do think the improvements are awesome for people with fast computers. They rock! I think the site LOOKS fabulous, and the extra features are great. Don't get me wrong. I just can't use them. I clicked on one of the new features, to make a thumbs-up to someone's post, then a little window popped up for me to post a comment. When I went to close the window, it took it over a minute to close. It reminds me of the recent "improvements" to Facebook (another site where I can no longer spend much time because it causes my computer to stop, go, stop, go, freeze, warm up, stop, go because of all the background scripts that are running).

I guess it's just me and my computer. However, I feel pretty strongly, though, NONE of us should have to download new software to our computers just to go onto one website, when we have browsers that work perfectly fine for everything else but BYC. I know they probably figured in losing a handful of users, and until/unless we can afford a better, faster computer, Farmer_Lew and I will likely be among them.

Like I said... I'm just practically in tears because BYC has become such a big and important part of our backyard farming and chicken-rearing process, and now I cannot be on it like I used to because the upgrade is too much for my system. We'll still be around intermittently, and I have taken my lunch break to type all this and gotta get back to work now. But we just won't be able to participate as before, which makes me really sad.

I want to quote this because its so very true and posts like these always get ignored and nobody will change what bothers us. Instead they find the minor things and fix them. Anyway, like I said before....everything is now crowded and the ads make it worse. If the sidebar was disabled EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING would be much better! (that includes the ads, I mean c'mon don't the GFM and PPM give you enough money?) Also, take note that people that have dial-up will now find the forums very hard to access (I don't have dial-up, just speaking for others). If the sidebar is disabled, everything would be 100 times better because I just noticed that the bottom posts of the first few pages have no annoying ads on the side and the post looks wider and better.

EDIT-

or maybe just add a button so that the people that don't want to see the sidebar can disable it (and also a button on ads so we can disable them if we don't want to see them)

The whole point of this upgrade was revenue - if the ads could be disabled - there goes the whole purpose of this change.

It is not a glitch. It is the way it is. Your old BYC uploads stay in one folder, and that folder is private. All new uploads go into your public folder. You can chose to make your new folder private, but then you cannot move photos around. If you want to create albums to sort your pictures into, those albums will be public.

So if you want to be able to use the new album features, then your photos must be public. If you want your photos to remain private, then you lose the album capabilities.

At least that's my understanding.
