Yeah that sounds like just the bad breeding plus lack of solid training, they need solid consistent training because they are a dominant, independent breed. Willow had a bit of resource guarding when she was younger but it was really easy to get rid of since I noticed it quick. Our half one was a little crazyresource guarding (which we did eventually work through), EXTREMELY protective of the house/family, etc. but it might’ve been how he was raised and/or bred cause the training was very inconsistent (everyone was either not on board with training and/or had differing opinions and ideas. Plus we all knew very little too. First puppy in decades for my parents, ever for us kids. Our dog before him we got at like 18 months or something) and he came from what I think was a BYB farm type situation and they also bred pure Labs. He just… would have been better suited for a farm rather than a neighborhood. We also put him down at 6 1/2 from suspected MMM. But I know other Pyr mixes and they’re nice dogs so IDK. They just need an owner who knows what they’re doing and not some family who saw an eBay Classifieds ad and a cute puppy picture while puppy browsing and grieving the loss of the last dog (even though it had been 3 years).

That’s what I figured but still kind of put me off them even though I loved him LOL but maybe a well bred and/or well trained one would be different. Even my dad now acknowledges we messed up with him and he tries harder with Brewster, watching videos, etc. He’s trying. But Brewster is also the first dog that’s actually “mine” and lives with me so I did all the training. So that helps. But my dad still interacts with him some and he tries to learn now. Which is good. And yes, that dog’s resource guarding was as an adolescent/young adult. He did get over it eventually with work.Yeah that sounds like just the bad breeding plus lack of solid training, they need solid consistent training because they are a dominant, independent breed. As far as looks my favorite is blue and rust! But because of limitations getting it and more health concerns I want a red and rust. But if a blue falls in my lap I’d probably take it!!@Squawkers what is your favorite color dobie? I forgot. I know you are planning on getting a red
Thanks!!!!!!!!Yeah I can understand why it would put you off them. That's good he tries!
That’s so sad!!!!!!!!!I'd love to get a full blooded poodle standard sized not the small ones! We have a half german shepherd/half poodle mix, and she is a great dog! She has been so easy to train compared to other breeds we've had. I'd also like a dog like the one that came on our property our first summer here. I'm pretty sure that he came from the people up the hollar that breed dogs. He was such a big goof. He reminded me of a guardian dog with short hair. He was the sweetest dog. We always fed him when he came to our house and loved on him, but he was a roamer for sure. One day he never came backI'm pretty sure someone shot him, because he had what my husband called buckshot wounds..I think he went somewhere he shouldn't one to many times. ! I'm blessed with the animals God has given me.
