I have seriously considered this breed before, but I am put off by their short life span (what has been your experience?) and that I have heard they can be aggressive, but don't like to think of certain breeds as "aggressive"

Oh yeah! Thanks for the clarification, it was definitely one of those that I saw walking with it's owner by pet supplies plus the other day lol!Silken? Borzoi?
For sure! There is also a big breed difference between mastiffs and GSPs![]()
That and my GSP is smarter...
They are two hugely different breeds though. For sure! That and my GSP is smarter...

Yeah he has bellsMy male didnt take long to potty train. He goes on command to on walks snd when out and about.
Males do take longer to mature though.
Have you tried using a aid like bells or a button to help for him to tell you when he needs to go?
I am pretty sure someone has already said this, but I would NOT allow him to wander the house. I would have in the crate when you are not paying attention to him or leashed when you areYeah he has bellsHe's not getting the hang of it, even though we teach him how to use them....

The problem with him is that he doesn't ask to go outside even when we are readily available for him to ask us...Then, when we take him outside like 6 times after a meal, he fools around outside and doesn't go. Then, like 30 minutes later, he goes poop in the house.![]()
Do you leash him when going outside?Yeah he has bellsHe's not getting the hang of it, even though we teach him how to use them....

Can you stay outside until he goes? Or teach him a command to go like “go potty” or “hurry up” then correct when he doesn’t go right away? But you would have to be sure he REALLY REALLY knew the command first and if he’s truly that dumb then it might be hard… I’d try to give him longer outside and/or leash him out there. And then crate him inside or section off a section of the house.Yeah he has bellsHe's not getting the hang of it, even though we teach him how to use them....
