True story, there used to be a big old Saint Bernard on the road between our house and grade school. We were so terrified because Hoss would come running down the long driveway barking. We always took off running. Eventually we started to sneak past by walking hunched over in the ditch. That dog was big and scary. Plus the walk home was like 2 miles. Who needed that extra sprinting.
