Yeah true but actually a lot of doodle breeders are now breeding doodle to doodle and breeding true now so it’s not just first gen. They actually can correctly claim the coat situation. The mixes are harder though because there is no breed standard. So what exactly are they going for? Also mixing can cause unknown gene stuff (lacking in the terminology here) so it can make genetic testing harder. Not to mention the heterozygosity will create so much more variation in a mixed breed that it’s nearly impossible to know what will actually happen. Since you’re mixing with another breed you are NOT guaranteed that “shed free” coat everyone raves about.
I love them!!!!!!!Poodles are great dogs… super smart, friendly, athletic, and very trainable. And you are guaranteed that poodle coat. I just wish people would appreciate them for what they are and stop mixing them.
Hmmm I didn’t know that. That’s interesting. So they are basically making a composite breed?Yeah true but actually a lot of doodle breeders are now breeding doodle to doodle and breeding true now so it’s not just first gen. They actually can correctly claim the coat situation.
I guess so? There’s one they were calling Australian Labradoodle or Cobberdog that’s a mix of like 3 breedsHmmm I didn’t know that. That’s interesting. So they are basically making a composite breed?
Yes! As someone who has owned and bred designer dogs I will never touch poodles. Most mixes or designer dogs will turn out fine but anything-a-poos are just wayyyyyyy too common and problematic and the ones people want are the more poodle leaning dogs so why not just get a freaking poodle?! They're not even more expensive than a designer dog because people think mutts should cost several grand. I would own a poodle long before I would gamble with a mix. I kinda get it when you're talking about designer dogs that have super similar personalities and you just want to mix their looks, like aussie-poos, they're gonna be smart, high strung, and very athletic but you'll get the crazy pattern colors, eyes, and coat texture, but almost all other mixes are going to bring out the yappy behavior, washed out rusty loosely curled shedding coat, allergies, hip and joint issues, and of course the extremes in personality.Poodles are great dogs… super smart, friendly, athletic, and very trainable. If they turn into a composite breed (no clue if that terminology is used with dogs, I’m using it as the cattle definition) that wouldn’t be as bad, I guess.I guess so? There’s one they were calling Australian Labradoodle or Cobberdog that’s a mix of like 3 breeds
