what hatchery should i order from?

Tractor supply said they are getting chicks mar. 16th, but be in the store early, as they go fast. The one here in WV gets their chicks from Ideal. i am getting 60 meaties this week from Meyer's, as they are closer, but have gotten some from Ideal too. I had ordered mine in February tho. Meyers web site says that they are out of stock, but the lady said to call them directly and not depend on the web site to let you know if they have them in stock or not.

I have gotten my last few orders from Central Hatchery http://www.centralhatchery.com/ and they are WONDERFUL!!!!!

You can't beat the price too $100 for a 100 pullet chicks. They are all healthy and did not loose a one to shipping or illness. They only have a few breeds but If you want eggs they are some egg laying machines. I will never order from another hatchery again. You don't have to order 100 but you do pay a $5.00 surcharge for the smaller order.

BTW : They ship on Wednesdays so you get them before the weekend.

I just got mine from Nature's Hatchery, and I'm very please with them. ordered 25 got 26 all good and heathy, ordered them on tueday and got them monday. they also do small orders.

I had a good first-time experience ordering chicks through the mail with McMurray. Many, many people recommended them to me, so I went for it. I split the order with a friend. I changed my order many times over the weeks prior (I asked to change one of my breeds, for no extra or free rare breed chick, and I even changed the delivery week) and they were very accommodating, and nice on the phone.

All my chicks arrived alive, and they gave me a great selection on (quote) "Ameraucanas." As for the Ameraucanas lie, I didn't really care that they tried to sell mongrel Easter Eggers and call them Ameraucanas or Araucanas. I know better, and I was happy getting Easter Eggers so the name didn't bother me. I can see how that'd be frustrating to some who are expecting true, rare breed Ameraucanas (and yes, to add insult to injury, the spell them "Americanas")

I might order from them again if I wanted many chicks, or a selection of rare breeds. But I found a local place that sells chicks, and would probably go local in the future. I think it's less pressure on the chicks early in life, and saves on the fuel to ship them

I know someone posted about a newer hatchery, I would go with martis, no one ever mention them to me, so I tried and they have been great! As far as the others mentioned stinks!!!!!!!! You will be lucky to get what you want and the wait is horrible. Martis I am getting this week! The others you would have to wait until May. most like it depends on the breeds you want, but I like marti a lot!!!
