Great thread Rachel! I love the ones where we all get to see different approaches different folks in different areas have and share our Ms/Mr Cheap ideas in chicken keeping'
You could be both like me. I’ll admit to being cheap. I don’t mind. The word genius seems pretty nice too. LOLMR/MRS CHEAP ??? I certainly dont call these geniuses cheap. I would rather say thrifty, creative, imaginative reconstructive engineers!! These engineers see gold in those castoffs and are mining that gold. Sounds so much better!!!!![]()
Thats beautiful!View attachment 1472872I used reclaimed cedar fence boards and an old farm window for my coop.
I love making play areas for my goatsDon't have pics of my chickens coop at the moment so I figure using old pallets and wood from previous goat shed as climbing structure the previous owners had a tree house they now live in(see back behind goat)and a cat hideaway for rescued squab will have to do XD
I was waiting. I knew somebody just somebody had to have converted an out house into a chicken coop! I love it. And I love the color tooI "remodeled" a two-seater outhouse. I took 2 feet off the bottom, put it on wheels, and built a nesting box off one side. It is also insulated and "wired" with a solar light and a solar powered, photo-sensor chicken door. I had nesting boxes mounted inside but the girls didn't seem to like them. The nesting box I built was a hit. View attachment 1478517
Guess I know what I’m doing with my old shutters when they get replaced. I love that. My favorite part is that little door in the front. Looks like maybe piece of an old crib![]()
This isn't mine; I just saw it in a coop I was rating, but I am liking the shutters used as ventilation walls. The builder's name is https://www.backyardchickens.com/members/ericbolstridge.92550/
Just to give credit where it's due.
