What in the heck?

A friend of mine sent me this picture of an egg she collected this morning. I’m as puzzled as she is as to what happened. There’s no signs of an egg being laid on top of the other eggs ie white/yolk. Anyone else have this happen?

Huh, that's really strange. It's like the egg got shelled twice but the second coat was lighter.

It wasn't laid like that.
Chances are there was another egg, that was broken, mostly eaten and stomped on before the darker one was laid.
